be dead serious do you think they could break the west as soloists if so who and why. I don’t know if any of them could :dancehall3:

All of them if they ditch Teddy and Bekuh "The white girl who talk AAVE" BOOM, cause they will be the reason's of BP's downfall.

Birthday era is kinda finally giving 'end of their run' teas for RV. Especially with Seulo flopping as well.

I think we will see 1 comeback next year, and then something for the 10th anniversary. Not too much beyond that. Especially if SM debuts another girl group soon

SM payola’d seulgis popularity by putting her with Irene for their duo. she was always the inoffensive nice girl who bound the group together never the star. So her flopping means nothing for RV beside that SMs plan failed.

they’re going up up up in album sales and still make solid singles if that translates in a successful tour then they’re profitable :cm:

I see it for Lisa, Jennie and Rosé in the West, but not Jisoo. I think she's better off trying to get a Suzy/Yoona type career in Korea.

I don't see that, when they've just smashed with FMR earlier this year.

RV is also in a unique position in that their physical sales are skyrocketing. When f(x) and SNSD were shelved by SM, their physical sales were falling and had declined from a peak.

Whereas RV's sales have been more than doubling year on year. Last year Queendom did 260k total on Hanteo. Birthday today has reached 630k on Hanteo and it's not even been a month yet. So I can see SM continuing with at least 1 comeback a year plus solos until 2024 when they are up for renewal.

Also Seulgi didn't flop in physicals, her sales are better than any other female solo in SM. It's just the single didn't take off digitally and the solo stan groups didn't support/stream her.

if only they’d given Irene her solo then when she could have been bigger than any of the members. Now post scandal she will never reach whatever peak she could’ve got even if she debuts and smashes. Such a dumb decision by SM:biblio:

Anyway to the one user who talked about Jisoo solo

in terms of sales it will do Rose album numbers in Korea but the song will be bigger especially if it’s serving OST ballad like expected of her. internationally she won’t touch Lisa.

korea impact: Jennie >>> jisoo > Rose >>>> Lisa

album sales : Lisa > Jennie > jisoo > Rose (adapted for the sales at the time of their release as sales have increased since Jennie debuted)

international impact: Lisa >>>> Jennie > jisoo > Rose

hmmm idk, while jisoo is more popular than rosé in korea i don’t think the GP stans her as a soloist/singer (idk if that makes sense)

Love this and love the girls, they look so good with this punk edge concept. Birthday is a massive grower too.

But does SM really think this is enough?? The promotion has been totally pathetic. Feels like the era is over already and they're not even attending the Gayos either.

i have to agree :jonnycat: the song really starts to pick up after the first chorus imo

but yeah the promotion sucks, i’ll pretend this is just a cute little gift for the fans :dancehall:

Birthday finally sounding kinda good with that performance video :bird:

Idk how Lisa’s popularity will translate as that badass hip hop style she has is very early 2010s and she’ll have to shift her sound

rose is giving annoying indie voice and I’m not sure her singer songwriter image works when she’s compared to the band but when she’s faced against others in the industry ?? Idk

as for Jennie she’s giving internet It girl but her drive seems to be dwindling. She’s 26 now 27 next month I don’t think she’ll be doing this at 30 honestly. She has magnetic eyes so let’s see how acting goes but she’s gonna be a socialite mostly I think

watch jisoo have the biggest solo career of them all

I agree hence why she should do an OST ballad and capitalize on that instead of her own popularity. I can see her more as an actress/face like yoona tho

KARA haven't had a hit in over a decade wow :deadbanana2: justice

Korea's goodwill towards to 2nd Gen continues to shock me, we (everyone) really thought they moved on and forgot :clap3:

The other day someone postes a video asking Korean people if they care about 4 and 3rd gen artists and they don't

We don't talk enough about the Lowlife Princess aka BIBI.

Such a good and cohesive album! 2022 was such a good year for her! I hope she can grown even bigger next year :clap3:

Honestly not right now! They need to do some features before. I can see:

- The Weekend ft Jennie or Jennie & Dua collab

- Olivia Rodrigo ft Rosé or a Dj ft Rosé

- Kehlani ft Lisa or a Lisa and Chris brown collab (:rip:)

You think Jisoo song is going to do better internationally than OTG?

Jisoo song is not going to be a ballad I think, but more a pop rock or edm song

The B side is def going to be a ballad

honestly, I don’t expect ballad from her and I think she will go more edm route, see her solo cover choices on tour too and she also upped her dancing game recently

I think Jisoo will be the dark horse of BP, since she has that „overlooked and mistreated” member name to her and most ot4 stans and casual listeners will support her

she will do better than Rose and Jennie did with their debuts, that’s my bet

but Jennie will do better than all BP solos if she’ll come back after The Idol and if the rumour about The Weeknd collab is true

If I'm not wrong they now have the 3rd best selling album on Hanteo for a 3rd gen GG (after Born Pink and The Album) :jonny: :jonny:

Original queens of J-pop are back with another underproduced Japanese version :jonny5:

Looking back on their Japanese stats, I forgot just how hard they smashed there. Biggest K-GG in Japan ever for sure

Posted

Jisoo's safest shot for success and longevity is an acting career with OSTs as solos

but I wouldn't mind seeing her in a pop girl role with a pop smash like On The Ground or Solo

How well do y’all think Jisoo’s solo will do next year?

Is she getting one?

She was supposed to have an album this year no?

Hmm I doubt, with how hard the Billboard chart is now, I don’t think she’s going to broke Rosé record. Also in China, if I’m not mistaken OTG did even better than Lalisa so I don’t know if Jisoo can do it too. And for Jennie records in SK, it’s going to be hard bc even Hwasa and Nayeon couldn’t manage to do it with their debuts too.

If the song is a hit, she can have a record with the longevity, since nowadays hits stay longer on the charts. The timing will also play a huge factor. She’s definitely selling at least 700k copies.

I don’t think Jennie comeback will be able to surpass Money success globally but she’s going to do some huge numbers. Her best chance is if The Weeknd collab is real. It’s a huge opportunity

Yes but they need to drop girl crush music and do weirdcore music instead

what is "weirdcore" to you?

I don’t think she would get higher peaks, but sales and longevity wise she can definitely do that. Jennie’s SOLO was long ago and Rose’s release was pretty frontloaded. Jisoo has hype and angry stans on board. Wasn’t her digipack the most ordered one on ktown? And then sooyas rioted when Rose solo happenned on Born Pink :deadbanana4:

and when it comes to Jennie, she didn’t have the chance to show us her power post proper kpop blow up, sales are steadily growing so we will see what are her capabilities, The Idol will give her an even bigger exposure - I also feel like her music is more vulnerable, authentic and I believe she will have input in her next release, it may help her image and chart wise

her „untouchable, cold and double-sided” it girl status in Korea can be well translated to western markets, we will see next year, it will be kinda „make it or break it” year for her, the things she worked on for the past two years will unfold
