Alldeezy Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 after avoiding listening to his albums because of how mainstream he is Im finally biting the bullet and Starboy (as much as I hate the song) the album is really amazing and fun and quite enjoyed it. I may be a fan of his non mainstream stuff I hate how the radio have overkilled him because his quite good.

Spoiler I mainly stan Trilogy (HOB + EOS), Kiss Land, BBTM, and My Dear Melancholy. His pop projects has lil moments but nothing hits emotionally like his old material.

I do enjoy some of his old works especially the house of ballons EP and a few From Thursday. I noticed trilogy is his darker songs which is a side from him I enjoyed a lot.

JungleJuice Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 So I'm a new fan Thanks to idol. Been exploring his this is the weekend playlist on Spotify and decided to give hs albums a try backwards and looooove dawn fm omg he's just like a pop girl lol. Question is alternate universe standards the same as the original or is it just songs added on like a Deluxe? I went to play the one before and it was also cute but imma stick with dawn fm a while

getBusy Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Where's Abel hiding these days? Did he ever even address the rescheduling of the Australian leg of the tour? I hope he's ok

Virgos Groove Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I wonder what sound he'll go for this next album. I know he wants to complete the After Hours/Dawn FM/TW9(?) trilogy, but I'm getting kinda bored of the 80s synth-pop.
Moonlight Nation Posted December 11 Posted December 11 A lot has happened since the last time the base thread was active, huh? Anyway, here are some key dates to look forward to. December 17th, 2024: January 24th, 2025: "HURRY UP TOMORROW" 's release. This album will be the final installment of the 'new trilogy', following 2020's "After Hours" and 2022's "Dawn FM". It's also meant to be the conclusion of The Weeknd's character arc, where Abel will then switch to making music under his real name. Personally, I have mixed thoughts so far. I'm not sure what to expect from this project sonically or visually, as the pre-release singles have all been completely different from each other and there's been zero effort in truly creating this era's identity + storyline beyond the São Paulo concert on September 7th. All three music videos have been dreadful too, which feels off for an artist with a videography as consistently strong as The Weeknd's. Guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes, but as of now I have my reservations. I only enjoyed "Dancing In The Flames" so far, while the general public only resonated with "Timeless" (I'd argue primarily thanks to Playboi Carti's presence). January 25th, 2025: one-night only concert at California's Rose Bowl stadium dedicated to the new album. TBA: Few ATRL Weeknd followers might know that Abel will be starring on a film alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. Directed by Trey Edward Schults and filmed in late 2022 to early-mid 2023, it's a psychological thriller meant as a companion project to "HURRY UP TOMORROW" 's narrative. It was actually stuck on production limbo (most likely due to the embarrassing failure of "The Idol"), but on November 2024 Lionsgate announced they bought worldwide distribution rights to the film, so I'm assuming we should be getting more information about it soon. First announced on late February 2023, the majority of details have been kept under wraps, but thankfully Sam Levinson won't be involved this time. [Kevin Turen was a film and televison producer who worked alongside Levinson on "Euphoria" and "The Idol". He passed away on November 12th, 2023] Let's just say I'm cautiously optimistic at best.
