Imagine being one of the most tasteful users on this website joining with the worst possible name... @Cruel Summer can relate, I guess

No, but I have to wonder what other users thought about you when you joined with that nickname :deadbanana2:

Listen, we’ll just say it was a very hard time in my life and I am much older and wiser now :eli:

I was really, really on board with Me! while it was an active single. I literally think I kind of Stockholm Syndrome’d myself.

As much as I’d love to spring for something like Champagne Problems, at this point, I feel like changing either my username or avatar is just strictly incorrect. :gaycat6:

It is, and I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'll be taking Champagne Problems or Gold Rush, so I hardly think it would be fair of you to go from one S-tier username to another while some of us are still looking to upgrade :ryan3:

Edit - agreed on the avatars though, I'm never changing mine (mostly because I want to remind everyone on this website that Taylor has an honorary doctorate from NYU :ryan3:

She’s announcing it in Feb 13 and releasing it in Valentine’s Day, you heard it here first! :ryan3:

Would you guys consider “Lover” to have been a brand new album in 2023 to the broader audience? Given that it has climbed above Mid nights at this point, receiving 10k sales per week like all other Taylor albums, doing 10m+ on Spotify everyday etc when it used to be in the top 50s?

The way Gays online LOVE to hate on PRAYer and love to claim it's terrible, etc. Meanwhile in REALITY it's easily one of her longest and best performing albums.  The real intellectuals understand why: because it has her best lyricism, one of the best songs of her career called CRUEL SUMMER, and is just overall a fun and complex album. It's no surprise to me that online stans with endless situationships underrate the masterpiece that is the song LOVER, which is one of the most romantic and beautiful songs ever written. :giraffe: truth is the GP loves it because it actually resonates with them. Chronically online stans can't seem to relate.

“Taylor Swift dragged by hispanics” oh they’re going insane

:ryan3:

Anything translated from English to any language with very different ways of ordering sentences etc etc. will sound wonky. Especially in Spanish. I speak Spanish and it's not a "drag" at all for the translations of songs to sound weird, BECAUSE THEY WEREN"T MEANT TO BE IN SPANISH, they were written in English to make sense in English. There are many covers of Maroon in Spanish on YouTube that keep the same meaning/flow as the original songs because they aren't word for word translations.

Spoiler
Your Midas touch on the Chevy door
November flush and your flannel cure
"This dorm was once a madhouse"
I made a joke, "Well, it's made for me"
How evergreen, our group of friends
Don't think we'll say that word again
And soon they'll have the nerve to deck the halls
That we once walked through
One for the money, two for the show
I never was ready, so I watch you go
Sometimes you just don't know the answer
'Til someone's on their knees and asks you
"She would've made such a lovely bride
What a shame she's ****** in the head, " they said
But you'll find the real thing instead
She'll patch up your tapestry that I shred
And hold your hand while dancing
Never leave you standing
Crestfallen on the landing
With champagne problems

The way this bridge is longer than the majority of the songs these days. She truly SNAPPED with it. For a reason the song is smashing with 700k daily streams

'tolerate it' was already one of her most heart-breaking song ever, depicting a truly awful place to be in a relationship. Then she made us believe with the bridge and last chorus that the narrator started to stand up for themself, giving us hope. But no no no! That monster of a songwriter had to add the outro "I sit and watch you" to make us understand that this was all in their head and they are actually still stuck in all this.

I love her, but also hate her sometimes. :weeps:

I made you my temple, my mural, my sky
Now I'm beggin' for footnotes in the story of your life

... is top 10, maybe even top 5, of her best lyrics ever

The fact that you could make this just about anyone in your life that has shut down your love or have not respected/valued you enough. It really is top 5 of her career. Godmore

While you were out building other worlds, where was I?

Where's that man who'd throw blankets over my barbed wire?

I made you my temple, my mural, my sky

Now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life

Drawing hearts in the byline

Songwriters would kill to have a bridge half as good as this, no wonder Aaron was emotionally annihilated when he first heard the song. It's probably more poignant to a married man.

Also the word choice, she is the queen of diction.

Going from I sit and watch you reading to begging for footnotes in the story of your life and drawing hearts in the byline. I love little details like this in her songwriting, you might miss it the first time but there's always a new layer to discover each time you listen.
