yeah, any upbeat song released during March (THE official month of Selena being talked about EVERYWHERE on social media) would've been an easy easy easy #1. There's no doubts about it. Selena can create hype pretty easily and i'm positive about a new era, the effects of March is still being sent on the UNIVERSAL love she's been getting on social media (....)

(...) BUT, it's not the same as March. So i don't think an easy #1 is happening anymore, months have passed. but i do still see the vision of at least an easy top 10 for a Selena solo single. the love online is still felt.

I'm ok with the wait. I need Calm Down to run it's complete run on the top10 of Billboard Hot100. You never know when you will get a smash classic like Calm Down in your career again. Selena needed a big song like this in her career. Just for the comparison:

1. Flowers, Miley Cyrus (27 weeks)

2. good 4 u, Olivia Rodrigo (24 weeks)

3. Calm Down, Rema & Selena Gomez (21 weeks, still charting)

Can you guys see how big this song is? Flowers and good 4 u are probably the biggests female hits of their years, and Calm Down is head to head with them. In the end of the decade, this song will be recognized in the DECADE END CHART. It will be Selena's first 2 billion song on Spotify too.

 

She is in her 15th year of her career. Let's celebrate that smash song.

 

A September/early October release is not too much to wait.

 

Plus: Olivia will release her next album. We don't want this competition inside her team and label. Give them time to promote Olivia and after that, Selena can have all of their attention.

i see your point of view but, with respect, i will just present u another one: 

don't you think this is such a pre-streaming era mindset? calm down is not #1 on spotify, it's #37. Radio is not the most important thing in the world... 

And even if it were -- 70% of calm down is sang by Rema, they would play a solo single if it turns into a streaming/tiktok viral without twinking twice. 

Selena had the perfect timing that was March/April. Her IG and Tiktok algorithm was insane, 25m/22m/18m likes on pictures and tiktoks with +200million views. Her hashtag gained 10billion tiktok views in 1 month (that's The Eras Tour level) BUT she probably didn't have anything ready and that's fine... but waiting just "for the wait" it's not smart. 

Calm Down wouldn't hurt a new single the way u think and a new single wouldn't hurt calm down the way u think. they could easily co-exist.
