4. Lov7 Song (fully pushed on urban radio/rhythmics and later pop)

5. Jump in collab with another rapper to replace the nameless rando on it nnnn

(6. Half Of Me for europe)

The way she’s unfloppable because the GP loves her and since she’s a GP artist, the Navy has no power to influence her :dies:

She’s winning again, I can’t stand it!

Maybe then y'all wouldn't be on here pretending it's not her 2nd best album, but I'm glad it's becoming one of her staple recurrent albums much to the gays on here dismay :celestial5:

She now has the 8th biggest peak surpassing Bad Bunny and Miley Cyrus.

Next in line:

#7 - Drake - 86.59M

#6 - Ed Sheeran - 87.93M

#5 - Mariah Carey - 90.57M

She is now the 4th biggest female peak ever after Taylor, Ariana and Mariah.

Is anyone else losing hype?

I think no matter what she releases at this point will disappoint because it’s just been so long. Nothing is worth an 8 year wait. Beyonce has been serving quality with the acts, Ari has been serving quality, SZA and Doja have had their hits. Rih really needs to get it right if she does ever come back and I feel like she may miss the mark because some of her decisions and choices lately have been off.

in retrospect LMU was a really dumb decision like that was the only song we had recently and it was hyped up to be huge but it was a F lullaby.

7 songs reached over 1 million streams on Spotify yesterday, my god. :jonny5:

We Found Love: 1,590,187

Only Girl (In The World): 1,108,992

Love On The Brain: 1,060,578

Umbrella: 1,058,414

Diamonds: 1,032,134

This Is What You Came For: 1,014,098

Love The Way You Lie: 1,003,423

I love that Only Girl is now frequently her 2nd biggest gainer. I also wonder why TIWYCF grew so much in the last few days.

in retrospect LMU was a really dumb decision like that was the only song we had recently and it was hyped up to be huge but it was a F lullaby.

Practically every day now, there's a tweet from a fan account or the other about her spotify streams or monthly listeners, mostly around how "the industry" is "lucky" she's "on a break right now," and much the numbers are going to explode when she makes a comeback. This is pretty much the only excitement you'll see from fans: numbers.

You're not likely to see fans say they're excited to find out what new sounds she might be trying, or hear what new things she's possibly doing with her vocals, or see how much better she's gotten on stage. Nobody is holding their breath that she's going to break new creative ground by, say, challenging herself as a songwriter for example.

It's why you see people screaming "the GP loves it!!!" or "it was a private show!!!" when people make objective observations about her performance on stage. It's why you can see someone having a meltdown and acting as if Cockiness (of all songs) was ever some kind of untouchable masterpiece (great song, though). The defensiveness and misplaced anger come from the same place: fans know, we all know, that on some level, she's kind of lost it. Not only is she not going to reach new artistic heights, but she's likely to fall short of the ones she reached before (which weren't even her peak). Whatever good musical instincts she has have dried up from lack of use. Her recent musical and performing choices have shown that much. Even if anybody was going to deliver an album worth this 8-year wait, it certainly isn't going to be the Rihanna of today.

I mean, even though I think it’ll be fairly hard to top Anti, with the right team and material she’ll be just fine. And beyond that, an album that would be worth the wait from Beyonce after 8 years is not the same album that would be worth the wait from Rihanna. All she really needs is a handful of bops and people will mostly be sated.

Just look at Nicki. She had no goodwill with the GP, she is a complete shell of her past self, and the music quality has degraded immensely. And yet— PF2 did well enough and she’s on a tour that’s also doing well enough.

Now, Rih is in a much, MUCH better spot than Nicki, resource-wise and image-wise. Sure, she might not release her magnum opus and she’s certainly downgraded in performance and musical instinct, but the standards are much different for Rih. They always have been, and they still will be now. I’ve never seen an artist on her level get so much praise for everything she does. I don’t think anyone expects a Renaissance type era from her, they just want her back in their ears in any capacity. If she collaborates with the right team and curates a trendy sound, she’ll be fine.

The whole issue is she obviously doesn’t care about music at all right now, and so she won’t even try to put together an album. She’s not scared, she has and never will give a flying **** about critics or whatever person doesn’t like what she does. She simply has no desire to do music at the moment, and that’s the only reason why we haven’t gotten anything.

@Moloko Plussis come calm us down. What genres did pink mountain lion write for our good sis Rih? Were her songs picked? Are you pinkpantheress?

I think the point you're missing is that she's entered a space where it doesn't matter if she's lost "it" or not. What she represents has transcended her output (or lack there of).

She's the 21st Century Coco Chanel. Fenty Beauty is going to be here long after she's dead and gone. Her Superbowl performance was nostalgic and made people love her even more while the Navy was melting down over no new music or tour

I actually don't think she's tapped out creatively, but I don't think she will ever have another "Era" where music is the main focus. Her companies have grown too big for her to take her eye off the ball. She needs to focus and secure the next 100 years. No one could've anticipated how massive Fenty Beauty would become and that forced her priorities to shift. That's what I think.

We are not losing hype.

We are losing HOPE.

As times passes by and we sense that no music is gonna happen and that is what's hurting us.

But if tomorrow she tweeted that R9 was coming in rihvember and lead in August and she is touring 2025... We would ALL be losing out s*it.

You first

I lost hype a long time ago...I'm just happy she's happy and doing whatever she loves in life, it is what it is. If she ever chooses to come back to music in a serious manner, then that'll be great and I'll be right there to support her but I think I've accepted where her career is at this point and that's on the back burner. It's much easier when you just learn to expect nothing but keep your eyes open for *something*.

The meltdown frequency in the base lately… I love to see it! We will NOT be gaslighted into thinking everything’s fine and she’s meticulously curating her album for us as we speak :bibliahh::bibliahh::bibliahh:

No, I get it, and I actually agree with you. I just think the fact that this even matters to us is indicative of a major shift in how her fanbase engages with her and her output.

In the past, it wasn't really commonplace to see Rihanna fans discussing what she represented or how the public perceived her. Compared to Beyonce fans, for example, who always proudly touted Beyonce's public standing and image and how much respect she got, Rihanna fans tended to ignore external perceptions and focus on her. Sure, we celebrated her hits and success, but we didn't pay too much attention to how she was perceived by the larger public.

This was in large part because so much of the time the perception was negative, so we kinda had no choice but to focus mainly on her music and her growth as an artist. We could engage with her as an artist (and not the image other people have of her) because she continued to deliver the music, and we continued to see artistic and creative growth. Like, the fact that there are fans in here making it out as if people criticising her are doing so out of a desire for her to be perfect and live up to unrealistic standards is WILD. We've always been here through all the missteps because we knew there was an actual artist in there we could engage with. Now all we have is an image, and as long as other people like this image, as long as "the GP loves her," we're apparently supposed to celebrate.

I can think back to people predicting nothing was coming in 2019 and getting lectured in this same thread because "she said herself it was coming this year!" :skull:
