The Twitter insider people (on here) claimed was reliable is saying if Candy Paint does good the album will come sooner.

I’m guessing the logic here is, if Candy Paint flops, the album moves to Fall or Q1 2023 and we get another single 100% crafted and chosen by the label.

If Candy Paint does good, the album comes out a month after it starts smashing (for that sweet sweet Sales + Streams points for billboard). This would be in line with Latto’s album release timing too (Big Energy started smashing hard then the album finally got a date, a tour, and an additional video for Wheelie).

Yeah, cause Ally’s been working a lot for a couple of years now. She could be doing a magazine spread, another music artist’s content, etc. It is interesting to me though that both Ally and Breyona (exquisite_eye on Instagram) were two of the only people to commemorate Wild Side’s 1-year anniversary music video shoot. The latter’s photographed her a couple of times since so maybe they’ll be back for BTS photos for Candy Paint?

I talk to someone on twitter who gave me tea on the Fair M/V and it's timeline of being filmed. They suggested there were delays with CP because of directors visa issue. She's not the insider but she speaks to one. Take it with a grain of salt but she's gotten specific items right

I can’t believe y’all are STILL putting yourselves through this after how many lies & games from her :deadbanana4:

So essentially her album is shelved until she gets a smash? I am speechless ?

That's not what was said or confirmed. She's held up much of the process herself, along with label shifts. However, the label might move to push her to release faster if Candy Paint is a smash as they can't afford to wait much longer.

I mean... tbh this has felt obvious for like a year now. The "I'm taking my time because you only get to make a debut album once" excuse she always used made sense up until Wild Side, but then she did interviews confirming that the album was basically done, so that doesn't make sense anymore. And we've had tons of people confirm the album is ready and has been listened to in full by people at the label.

The only real thing left is that the label simply doesn't want to release the album yet. And part of the reason I've been so pessimistic about the album coming anytime soon is that I don't think Candy Paint is going to be the big smash everyone wants/expects it to be, at least based on the two snippets we've heard. It sounds like a cute hit that should do decently enough on radio, but it's never screamed big consumption smash to me. Hopefully the full version will change my mind, or I'll just be wrong and it will blow up anyways, but I've basically been acting on the assumption for now that we shouldn't expect an album :toofunny2:

I agree with all of this. It's up to the label now. BUT are they really expecting Candy Paint to blow up out of the gate? That doesn't make sense for any artist, and if they do, they should be ready to support it - which we've seen they hardly do when it comes to Normani. Put a HQ snippet out. Start actually hyping the song, and then when it comes out. Will there be promotion? Everything is so messy, but everything has always been messy when it comes to her so there really is no surprise here. It's all messy and sad honestly. Candy Paint should be coming this week, album announcement next week + performance at the BETs. That's it. I feel like if they really announced the album with the song, it would give the song a natural push because people are waiting for that and if they know an album is really coming (that means we get  A DATE and an ALBUM COVER), they'll probably be interested in Normani again.

Just wanted to add that - let's all thank Fair for ruining the (almost already non existing) hype! Let the meltdowns begin sisters!

He's so hot. I just know Ciara linked them up :fan:

She started following him after a night out with Ciara and Russell a couple of days ago (the night she posted the Candy Paint snippet on her Instagram Story) so probably.

I think Candy Paint can be her breakthrough for this era. Top 10/20, Top 30 at worst as the peak.

To me from what I’ve heard, it feels closer to what could become a signature Normani hit. It’s clear the public doesn’t want slow from her unless it’s like Love Lies or Dancing with a Stranger (duets basically). The public was very much into Motivation, I just think it should have been promoted more and its peak would have been better. Wild Side was a slow burner and Normani could have continued in that lane, but it feels even more r&b girls are showing up so maybe she needs to dip out that lane again.

Candy Paint feels more in her bag (aka in her comfort zone). It definitely has that Fifth Harmony Worth It and Bo$$ energy. Also, they can push it globally thanks to the sound. It’s definitely a song I can see Brazil and Latin Markets enjoying.

It’s fun, big, very summer, just enough pop and urban elements to appeal widely. There’s nothing holding back Candy Paint except the fact we don’t have it released.

Spoiler

Imagine if Normani came back with Candy Paint and a hot video instead of Wild Side. That would be a top 5 on billboard I fear.

Candy Paint doesn’t even sound strong enough to justify all this mess and delay as it is. She ****** it up by having another single and album ready after Wild Side. This is all just seemingly past a point of return or reparation

Posted

And it was her choice to release Fair, a terrible choice then do nothing with it either so as much say the label might have Normani truly made a mess of it all on her own tbh. I really believed that everything was coming for the summer though so I held on. But to see we are all here again, waiting with no news or sign of anything is like… yeah. No wonder we’re down to 10 stans. Even with her dropping the right material now she’s kind of made herself such old news ppl won’t bother to tune in. You can only stop and restart so many times it gets old. If Candy Paint does not arrive with a full preorder/cover and track list she will be making no noise. People are done.

I feel like a pre-order link or album announcement along with CP would get it the right publicity it needs. Based on the history of normani and her team, it would be a miracle if CP has a stand along single would smash. Im glad that most of y’all are optimistic like saying how this is her final chance regarding a single release. Her last chance is that Album. The gp really don’t care for another single release.  I was really looking for an album on top of this year but based on what what I’m hearing we may not even get the album until next year. Like these constant push backs are worrying.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it so difficult for them to do anything right? Every single thing has been a disastrous move after the next. Fair also 100% ruined the hype and release schedule for this album, why on earth let Normani push this one out? What a waste of time and resources.

yeah if the pre-order link or at least an announcement is not coming with candy paint then i’m not expecting her to release an album at ALL :rip:

if they want a smash to launch the album then they should be prepared to give their all to the song. this includes playlisting, radio deal, performances etc.

it’s just not realistic to expect normani to release an immediate smash :ducky:

Not @EnoughSaid & @shelven turning AGAINST Candy Paint. Definitely a plot twist :rainy:

Lemme get @WheresJay to contact Brandon, so he can cut y’all from the Meet & Greet list for the tour. Enjoy being blacklisted. :bird:

That snippet she posted did not do too much for me. And hearing the bass is not as strong on the official record dimmed my expectations a little too. I will still love it when I hear it but against all of the current mess I don’t believe CP is some undeniable smash that will have made it all worth it. After years of recording and delays this is what happens though. We need that album preorder so we know we aren’t being scammed again

It’s just the intro, @wildsidenormani can attest the bass is decent, and the song is meant to crossover.

Also, nothing would make Normani releases worth it. We had this same type conversation before Wild Side and I think the fans are just burnt out from the delays but super casual listeners and the general public are anticipating more Normani and only really started paying attention to her like around Motivation (so barely 2-3 years now).

Decent with crossover appeal? Yes

As heavy as I want it to be? No

There is a release date now, and it’s not one any of y’all are gonna like. So I suggest we all find something else to do for a while to protect the small amount of sanity we have left, and distance ourselves from all of this?. Just looking out for y’all

I've actually not been super enthusiastic about it since the very first day we got the chorus snippet. I even made a post about it at the time, but tried to keep it under the radar because everyone was celebrating and I didn't want to spoil the fun :eli:

It sounds fun and catchy, but I guess we spent SO long waiting for a proper uptempo and the snippets just haven't been living up to my expectations that I spent so long building in my head. I'm sure I'll like the song, but I really wanted something that immediately sounded like a 10/10 bop and an instant smash to me, and I haven't gotten that so far.

I've already been assuming a mid-to-late July release date, so I don't think an exact date will faze me as long as it's somewhere in July. If it's in August, then... lol best of luck to her and her "career".

By the time she release an album, I’ll have a PhD.

If it’s July, I’m annoyed but will be fine. If it’s August, I wish her the best in all future endeavors.

I’m assuming @wildsidenormani is hinting at the single release date and not the album. At least that’s what I gathered from their post.
