Xtina23 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 OOPS - just realizing I've posting in the base instead of the album thread. Oh well, I'm almost done with the album anyways

I love 1:59 down, but after hearing the album they had several choices. I mean, were those songs even ready back in April? She was toying with the tracklist up until a couple days ago lol

scrltwtch Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 i fear we will be fighting tooth and nail for tour tickets y'all… genuinely so proud of her 4
maaricle Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 What a DEBUT I'm on my third listen and I am still so OVERWHELMED As someone who has followed her career (with all the accompanying trauma) since X factor, part of me still hasn't fully processed that this is real 3
maaricle Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 (edited) Production? Sublime, sleek. Artistry? Self-possessed, specific. Dare I say, inventive? She balances the sonic bombast in her portrayal of her southern roots with a more intimate, experimental blend of pop and r&b that could only come from her. Her unique signature. Cohesively her. I do have some critiques from a songwriting perspective (I was left craving more diversity in scope and subject matter because I know she has so much more to say beyond love and romantic relationships) but overall…. Excellence was served HOUSTON RAISED, NOLA BORN, R&B POP STAR DIVA ✨ Edited June 14, 2024 by maaricle 4
sleepevaded Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 i said "come thru and slide it like" you said "need u to ride it like"
MAGIA Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 The more R&B-leaning songs are the standout tracks, while 'Taking Time' feels too poppy for her dark vocal tone, and 'Candy Panty' highlights her monotone delivery due to minimal singing. Despite these issues, the rest of the album is solid with excellent production. Overall, it's a good debut, heading in the right direction.
Love Drought Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Been listening all morning. I was kinda surprised by the direction but it makes sense and it perfectly encapsulates her sound and artistry for a solid debut. Sensual, vulnerable and bit of that NOLA bounce. The only thing I would change is the tracklisting. I arranged it like this 1. Insomnia 2. All Yours 3. Still 4. Wild Side 5. Lights On 6. Take My Time 7. Candy Paint 8. Big Boy 9. Grip 10. 1:59 11. Tantrums 12. Little Secrets 13. Distance

But Wild Side is such a great closer to me too, like it circles back to a timeless classic and it makes so much sense in the album so i'm not really mad about it closing the album
butterflymimi Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 I did still so wrong last right, its quickly become one of the highlights for me 2
