Yeah, I really agree with you, after everything that has happened in the lead up to this I don't know why they're still trying to push slow RnB singles, save that for the album.

Fans have been constantly going on for ages about her giving up-tempo, urban pop singles and for some reason she's insistent on releasing slow melodic RnB, don't know why she's so against it but she will not pop off the way she wants releasing this type of RnB.

I think this is just the music she prefers tbh. I think a big part of the issue she’s had over how her music’s been received is the tension between how she views herself and what some fans seem to want from her.

I mean Fair being very slow and bombing speaks volumes. :michael:

Watch her next single flop with this slow jam comeback and therefore they gonna delay the album. This is so predictable. Wow they doing the same mistake like they did with "Fair“

Yes, it might be a bit disappointing that the lead isn’t the uptempo single we’ve been asking for, but I don’t think her new management would necessarily let her flop outright like Fair. I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised at their attempt of a big push for this entire album campaign.

I love how this promo campaign is happening!!!

So is this all that they’re posting today tho? Not even a single announcement? I really hope they drop 2 singles

I have feeling they will def release the uptempo but they seem to be spreading their content to surprise fans

Do not be shocked if the intention at RCA is to let Normani do what she wants with this album (aka heavier on R&B), then it will be followed with a tour and a quick turnaround for another album that’s more “pop friendly” (along with feature songs in any genre artists that wants her).

I think Normani is deliberately set on establishing her credentials as an “artist” before she does a more up-tempo album. She doesn’t want to be known as just a Ciara/Mya/Britney performer and her negative feelings towards Motivation and that time period really show it.

I personally don’t think she’ll do just somber and slow music. I truly think that we’re getting something more akin to Rihanna’s Talk that Talk. We got some slow songs on the album but majority of the album is mid-tempo R&B/Pop. I personally think she is taking this route as a way to distinguish herself from 5H. I’ve always noticed that when asked about her time in the group she gets self-conscious because she was constantly told that her voice doesn’t fit pop. So i’m seeing some resentment/hesitance with doing an outright “pop” song. IDK I personally think she’s selling herself short by not tapping into her dance roots and making more upbeat music. I mean that’s why everyone fell in love with her. She’s a stronger performer than singer. Even Chloe saw what happens when you stray to far from your core base of fans. I’m sorry to say this but black/R&B fans are a very scattered demographic they listen to everything under the sun and most people are either casual R&B listeners or die hard fans. If you can’t grasp their attention they tend to only listen to a few songs not necessarily the whole album.

How do you know that majority of her album is mid-tempo r&b/pop if I may ask

Don’t get confused I’m still happy that we’re even getting an album but I still want her to be successful. Having music that doesn’t either align with her core fan base or doesn’t expand her demographics is just a waste to me. I actually the snippet but an album full of songs like this won’t be exciting to perform and to me won’t get people to buy her album. Having slow songs, mid-temp, and uptempo makes the most sense in my opinion.

she kinda had the most solos in the group after camila i feel like her voice suits pop more than R&B in my opinion

Idk what the music is going to entail but I'm excited, especially about the visuals.

You heard 30 seconds of a song that you don’t know if it’s a single, an interlude or what and you’re doing all of this for what exactly?? That’s my point.

fans are not A&R, marketing execs or anything of the sort….but it’s just kind of annoying that we’re going down this same tired road instead of enjoying the amazing moment that we’re in.

If she is happy with what she is putting out then that is all that matters. It feels like she says this a million times over and folks still go back to this same “oh what will people think??” conversation.

please just live in the moment and enjoy it.

I just know if Touch Myself isn't on the album I need her to explore that sound anyway.

As salty as I am that she doesn't want to do more Motivation-style tracks, I get that she doesn't want to push music that she's not honestly feeling. I would guess that people complaining about her not doing pop only pushed her further away from pop.

Wild Side was validation that she can pull off R&B, so hopefully she can replicate that magic. I think this comes down to the songs suiting her voice/tone well. This might be why Fair didn't resonate as much as WS.

Since this is ATRL and no one asked for my opinion: maybe it would be smart to release an urban pop leaning song (Candy Paint!) as the lead and wait for listeners to pick which R&B songs to push once the album is out, idk.

So if we can’t talk about her potential music than what are we to talk about? Wanting a particular artist to being versatile and to cater to her audience while expanding said audience isn’t something that only A&R’s think about. All of us are happy that she is releasing (as it has been a long time coming.)

However, we can discuss our hopes and expectations as well. @WheresJay has told us that we are getting an R&B and we made note of her pursuing only an R&B. R&B is popular but what most of her fanbase comes from is the remnants of a pop group. Thus, a good portion of her immediate fan base expect some pop as well as R&B. Making mention of that isn’t complaining but is being intrigued at her choice to somewhat abandon her original fan base.

I think Fair didn't do well because people were begging her for an uptempo even before Fair was released so I don't think everyone gave it a real chance. Personally I'm super excited for the album but i think an uptempo song would have been a much better idea to tease the album with even if it's candy paint. People still could make tiktok dances off of that. The average person hasn't heard the song like the nation has so I think that would have been fine.

Anyways still super excited about the actual single. I thought she would have announced today
