She’s sick for making Beep Beep an interlude. That can’t be it, I need more

This album needs time to marinate, on my second listen I’ve already grown to appreciate more and more songs. Did she topple TPP with this album? No, but we got a fun album without mentioning opps, lashings, no discourse just vibes

The way she EMBARRASSED my drama frogging ass. This album was UNBOTHERED to the fullest. The lashings are memorable but not in the "Nicki is NASTY" way but the "oops, get ha!" playful way. It's really a gay friendly affair tbh.

Ltisy is heavenly sorry not sorry

I see why she chose Last Time I Saw You as a prealbum single it makes sense in the context of the album.

The way I was right about the album being very vibe friendly & wavy.

As my label began having panic attacks & flipping out.

As I began becoming more & more aggravated with my whole team (b/c I was rlly mad @ myself) I just said PULL IT UP!!!! Juice & Biggz was looking at me like I was delusional AF 🤭

I went to that mic. The one in the Vogue video. With not a word on the paper. Shaking from anxiety & fear & anger & disappointment.

Then It dawned on me.

“Onika, You’re trying to rap. WHYYYYY?!?!!!

So I want to be very deliberate and intentional with sharing my thoughts on the album. I will start by saying the music is objectively good but as a whole, the album left a lot to be desired.

This is a very 'paint-by-numbers' Nicki Minaj album; bars about being the best and having sons over hard trap beats, pop songs with sexually charged lyrics, slower introspective sing-rap songs (that are just vague enough to serve as the vulnerable section of the album, but still too superficial/surface-level to be impactful). The novel piece here is her experience with motherhood and I really wish she explored that theme more. Sonically and thematically, it's disjointed and not cohesive.

Like I said, the music is great and I will enjoy the album for years to come but the album and its artistic statement as a whole miss the mark. Nicki obviously has the skills to spit but what holds her back is the inability to edit and stick to a clear vision. I hear 3 distinct versions of NM5 hodgepodged together into an album that, in my opinion, is not deserving to be Pink Friday's sequel.

I agree with some of your thoughts but I do think this has always been her issue when creating an album. PF was the same we just saw it differently because it was her first album. But everything you just said is what makes it a Nicki album. Is this as deep as TPP, no but I do think she poured her heart into this & what took so long was her own pressure she’s placed on herself.

I do believe the album is a grower & it’s not as direct as her previous projects. But that just means you have to sit with it to fully enjoy it. The way she’s sat with it for years.

Brother how do you feel about Big Difference? @Click Clack

I must say, when I heard that BD snippet I thought it would be a dud since it wasn't as animated as her VMA performance. But that beat switch up made me change my mind.

The great thing about this album is how it flows so nicely. I can actually just let it play all the way through without whiplash. Even the pop tracks blend in well with the rap tracks.
