Tom: Are you at liberty to talk about some of the 'collabs"?
Mariah: Not entirely. There is one project that is done though. I can somewhat discuss it. It's a track called "Angelfire," which I did with Madonna, William Orbit, and Patrick Leonard. It is an incredibly personal song which may or may not be on the album.

i know she's not this kind of artist but I lowkey wish she had a Ray of Light

She doesn't need to be "that kind of artist". Madonna has to try new sounds and aesthetics because her talent is limited and needs it packaged with greater soundscape variety to keep it interesting.

Mariah has a keen ear, is capable of navigating her own sound and musicality, and can sing, write, and is talented enough perform anything she wanted. Her variety is complete control and realization of her vision.

Madonna's thing is something different.

Not to take away from Madonna but as Cher so aptly noted, "She's done a lot with so little".

No, not quality wise. I mean something with ROL, William Orbit type production

Ah, in that case I also wish it would have happened at some point. ROL is an amazing album production wise, it would have fit nicely with Mariah's creative melodies.

What was the song that Mariah used as a mashup for Heartbreaker live? And not If You Should Ever Be Lonely.

Was it Juicy Fruit? I can't remember.

nvm it was Dreamlover duh

I wish she had actually sampled it.

I think Mariah would excel at it because her musical instincts are top notch. Even random improv things like Jimmy Fallon, Christmas in New York, or her Zurich Band into have such addictive melodic hooks. Caution she kinda went out of her typical RnB bubble but it was still largely rooted in the music she normally does, just with fresher sounds.

Thought you meant the superior Heartbreaker/Love Hangover remix that I could never find a good HQ version of her VH1 Diva's live performance.

Emotions Mariah would have ATE TF out of this track and added whistles for the head voice parts and would have had waaaay better adlibs. For the belting at the end I can hear her having so much more resonance and making the track sound so much fuller and more potent. Like Anytime You Need a Friend

This honestly just sounds like a mashup of every other Leona Lewis track. My mind was having trouble processing which track it reminded me of most but there's definitely a strong "Better In Time" similarity with a tinge of "Bleeding Love"

Rolling Stone is predicting her to be nominated for best rap song with Latto, which means she’ll be snubbed yet again.

The way neither of those Rihanna songs went #1. Moo is safe
