BB gets so much hate but it was made when she was at her lowest and probably didn't care enough to polish it up. It will just live on as a lowkey gem for us. Edited June 14 by NOW
NOW Posted June 14 Posted June 14 She says she's met Bruce Springsteen 3 times already, at least via Facetime while working with Jack. https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/video/interior-shots-of-singer-lana-del-rey-with-the-special-news-footage/2155029225?adppopup=true Imagine receiving prestigious music awards and you've got your all-time idols like Bruce and Priscilla sitting in the audience listening to you speak.
Aethereal Posted June 15 Posted June 15 (edited) Born To Die has now sold over 2.3M pure sales in US. And as of August 2014 it had sold 4.5M track downloads in US. Quote However, Smith was beat by one of the world's most streamed artists. Del Rey's 2012 debut, "Born to Die," was No. 1 globally in Spotify's "median ranking," measuring the popularity of all tracks on an album, and eighth in overall streaming activity. (Sales-wise, the album has moved 1.1 million units and 4.5 million tracks in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.) https://www.billboard.com/pro/sam-smiths-spotify-gamble-did-it-pay-off/ Vinyl sales in US vs WW in 2023. Aethereal Posted June 16 Posted June 16 The unreleased songs should remain unreleased with some few exceptions. SYTH being released is the best thing from that collection everything else is negligible to me TBH.
Aethereal Posted June 17 Posted June 17 @NOW Kill, kill really grew on me. Such a nice relaxing summer song. It only needs a better production it sounds like a demo and not ALL (or even MOST) of her demos are better than the official produced version no matter what some Lana stans say. Also add a good bridge on it and also change the title.
Aethereal Posted June 17 Posted June 17 After listening to Katy's spinnet, as far as quality goes, we truly stan the goat. Lana was right about her and Gaga.

I wouldn't mind if she didn't change anything before she rereleases that album, maybe just remastering it a bit. It has that nostalgic Myspace indie sleaze vibe that I used to obsess over during that time

The leaked demo was nice but the song itself is beautiful that any arrangement would've been fine for release. The Honeymoon version was cute too. The fact that it's her fastest song to clock half a billion Spotify streams is insane.
duybeeGAshantiGA Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Omg. Not even a Lana / Quavo snippet could revive this dead base

Aethereal Posted June 21 Posted June 21 It def sounds like L4L or Honeymoon, it also looks like a BTD demo up there with National Anthem or You can be the boss (unreleased). (The song is not similar to those two but it looks like it could fit in an album with those)
NOW Posted June 21 Posted June 21 The new song she debuted for last night's entrance doesn't sound like it was produced by Jack...but it could be and he just finally mixed up his preset
NOW Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Nice writeup from SPIN about the Boston concert: Quote When Del Rey announced that a single night here would serve as her lone American solo show of 2024, it all made sense the way so many of her songs do the very first time you hear them. Perhaps no other venue clicks so elegantly into her oeuvre: This is an artist who remixes and romanticizes Americana and America itself, taking elements of our shared history which linger so pleasantly that we don't always even clock them as part of our culture: Harleys, Mustangs, boots. She loves Waffle House and beaches and motel pools, some of which she's mentioned in her songs and some of which she doesn't need to mention — you just know. She's like the purveyor of some national antique store, with light-up signs for A&W and Pepsi Cola — knickknacks you didn't even know you loved until you see how she puts them on display. https://www.spin.com/2024/06/lana-del-rey-boston-fenway-park-live-review/
