SYTH went below 1M for the first time.

151. Lana Del Rey: Norman ******* Rockwell! (2019)

Even when certain critics panned Lana Del Rey's record Born to Die—and the infamous Saturday Night Live performance that preceded it—most of them acknowledged that the singer's debut album contained a kernel of American songwriting greatness. On Norman ******* Rockwell!, that seed (which was already blossoming in 2012, frankly) shoots into a flourishing magnolia tree, with every lyric a fragrant petal that reveals a flicker of her personality: a poised clapback at a reporter ("You took my sadness out of context / At the Mariners Apartment Complex"), sighing eyerolls at a tortured poet beau ("Cause you're just a man / It's just what you do") and muted optimism whispered to herself ("Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have / But I have it"). As the petals drop, the scenery flits between a waning summer over Venice Beach, teary backseat arguments, and vaguely witchy Laurel Canyon parties, all distinctly American scenes rooted in Del Rey's knack for braiding minute details into achingly ornate renditions of the U.S. flag. Normal ******* Rockwell! isn't Del Rey's first masterstroke, but it is the album that converted some of her steeliest critics, who finally resigned to join the singer's new refrain of "**** it, I love you!" —Victoria Wasylak

This went diamond certified on my phone :heart2:

Also, if we don't count 1989 being split, Ultraviolence has been the most streamed 2014 female album each day (#2 overall behind Hozier). Her ascension into MPG status this decade without doing MPG things is pretty much the exception to everyone else.

I don't even care that she's reusing dresses for each show...it's literally 2012/13 every day :jonny5:

She's been a MPG since the beginning.

In Europe she had a bigger peak than Katy or any non-Adele artist in 2010s. Even if you convert track sales into album units. Lana's peak is still ahead.

Only Loud sold more (the gap comes from UK entirely) but that's because people were pirating Lana's music.

That's true and if we were somehow able to factor in Tumblr song plays back then, she'd demolish everyone else :gaycat6:

In Europe:

BTD - 3.27M

TD- 2.26M

1989 - 1.8M

Even if you convert track sales like 10 track downloads

=1 album unit, BTD will still be ahead.  This is without including streaming.

Everything about the era seems promising. From her looks and the sound. She even said she looks up to Ride (:jonny5:) and Video Games for the next album. And the Henry spinnet was already better than the last lead single. (even though I hope she has bigger guns)

Number wise I doubt she can sink lower than BB when it comes to streaming, and the pure sales will much higher for sure.

I can't at her randomly serving so hard (for her current standards) last night fjfjfkkf :bibliahh: like she sang the Ride bridge, her voice was front and center for the entire time, her interactions with the crowd during BTD, actually having energy during Doin Time and Cherry and not phoning it in :jonny4: if she needs to keep re-wearing this dress for that to happen that's fine with me fjfjfjf

Is there a video of her singing the ride bridge?
