I feel so bad for her, I wonder if Lana knows about her mom and her brother, she must feel so awkward.

She probably knows and the tension with Priscilla over the estate. It could be the reason she passed on doing the Priscilla soundtrack and opted for this event instead.

Paris, Texas & title track were my #1 and #2 on Spotify this year, Grandfather at #6, and she’s my 2nd top artist

She really snapped on that street tunnel album huh

I'll probably put together a thread later next month compiling all the achievements just from 2023 because it's pretty spectacular. Streaming, vinyl sales, acclaim, touring, live performances, awards...she's checked off so much this late into her career.

Paris. Texas is magnificent. It helps me calm down when I am in need.

I have a feeling Lana will win a Grammy this time.

On “The Grants,” the opening song off Lana Del Rey’s last album, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” the (other) elusive chanteuse pays tribute to “‘Rocky Mountain High,’ the way John Denver sang.” She’s now released another tribute to Denver: a cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Leave it to Del Rey to take a ubiquitous piece of Americana and make it seem hauntingly new. She slightly slows Denver’s jaunty pace, swapping out acoustic guitar for melancholy piano. But just when you think she’s made this anthem too much of a downer for a singalong to break out, a warm chorus of other voices joins in and leads her home. ZOLADZ

Lana was interviewed by The Times and they named Ocean Blvd the best album of 2023. She talks about a lot of things, you can read it here

She was at his home at a vigil alongside 30 members of her extended family. “I shouldn’t have been the one crying,” she says. “The people around me were his children — I’m just this star who walked in.”

Then suddenly everyone started singing the old folk song Froggy Went a-Courtin’ — once covered by Bob Dylan — in a 13-part harmony. “It was a pivotal moment because I realised that they could sing as well as I do, but I just happen to be the one who made it. That was the missing piece I needed. I felt part of a very wide network, a grain of sand on the beach.”

wow oh wow the kintsugi backstroy :WAP:

Hopefully the Shammys see all this acclaim and make the right decisions...but they always reward the most basic vanilla stuff that was commercially successful (e.g. Harry's House winning this year), so they won't.

tbh I'd only accept Olivia or Lana winning

but really wanting Lana to get that one!

Slaying Spotify, year end lists, live television…she is coming to collect the grammys next i hope

So Pitchfork and NME named A&W the best song of the year. If she doesn’t win that damn Grammy I will lose it. :giraffe:

Del Rey’s performance, in which she headlined The Other Stage, was abruptly cut short after she came on stage 30 minutes late and ran beyond the site’s strict curfew. Organisers cut off her microphone and switched off the screens while she was midway through performing ‘White Mustang’, which was met by booing from the crowd.

The fact that it happened during White Mustang and that's what finally made her take it off the setlist for good...God is good.
