Being disappointed with it could be understandable if you weren't holding so many absurd expectations on it in the first place. Not every video she does has to resemble or reference Bad Romance, and thank goodness for that cause otherwise there would be no evolution.

I think many of us belived the PageSix allegations, that "We also hear that the "Disease" music video is "meticulously choreographed" in the same vein as 2009's "Bad Romance" and 2011's "Judas."

Disease's video is objectively good, but it doesn't match some expectations. That can happen with anything, and it's normal (like with JFAD and incels expectations)

None of the alleged collaborators (Parris and Tanu) posted about the video, maybe something went down behind the scenes?

Cirkut and Watt kind of silent about the song too :biblionana:

Silent where? They both posted story or post on their ins. Watt even shared a story just 4 hours ago. Stop creating conspiracy theories out of thin air.

What is that supposed to mean?  Is she saying that the OG demon wasn't really defeated, just temporarily scared away but that she knows how to deal with it in the future?

I think the demon is the real her. The rest of them have blind eyes. She was trying not to see this part of herself until like 2022.

Maybe because they didn't know anything? It's not Gaga who gave your these expectations which could be justifiable.

I've been collecting my thoughts all evening after watching this video... I love how Suburban Gothic the aesthetic is and I especially love the shots of Gaga casually strolling down a suburban street as a grotesque and abject figure. The juxtaposition between what's such an ordinary and mundane setting with Gaga as this creepy and hideous creature is so deeply unsettling in a satisfying way... LOVE it.

I mean, Disease is still meticulously choreographed (the chained scenes are an example), but I agree its choreo isn't as intense as Judas' and BR's, so Page Six is surely a lying qunt

And that's okay being disappointed sis, just don't let your expectations ruin the experience you would otherwise have with it, it's never worthy

The gay gasp I let out with the first line in the video.

Whew. Her acting is on point. Creepy as hell.

9/10. Needed some choreo

Further thinking about the video, it makes sense that she's set it in a suburban backdrop in the daytime. The suburbs are often depicted in Gothic / horror literature, TV series, and film as being an uncanny space where on one hand, they are represented as being highly idealised, artificial, and beautifully presented while also being liminal spaces where dark/ horrible secrets lie. In the video we see Gaga literally fight herself and her inner demons, the parts of her that she's been trying to repress. And yet, they keep returning to torture her. I think the suburban setting is more meant to be a metaphor for how on the surface, her life might seem like it's fantastic and she's presenting this idealised and curated persona but inside she feels a sense of conflict that she can't escape, all the while being front in centre of everyone. I don't know if any of my ramblings make sense but I'm still processing everything!!

Her beating the **** out of ARTPOP Gaga :clap3:

Is the sick/diseased Gaga at the end supposed to be Chromatica Gaga bc of the hair?  I interpret that as she thought she had finally won over her demons before Chrom, only to spiral back into darkness during the recording process.

The version of her with black long hair that is down is supposed to be the "free" Gaga maybe for LG7, but the OG demon from the start of the video seemingly walks away triumphantly at the closing of the video.

What is that supposed to mean?  Is she saying that the OG demon wasn't really defeated, just temporarily scared away but that she knows how to deal with it in the future?

I actually feel that all the characters represent her demons, except the one in the black dress. These demons could then relate to traumatic experiences she has previously disclosed:

Spoiler

On the windshield - sexual assault before making it big

With the flannel - experience with addictions

Chained one - flare-ups due to fibromalgia

Purged one - her abortion

Still unsure if the one in the black dress is herself, the music industry, or both.

Anyone else kinda wish Gaga did a visual album and just dropped the whole thing as a project at once? I dont think she can have multiple singles perform well pre album so it doesnt matter imo.. to me I feel like LG7 will be the type of record that sounds amazing as a whole and with a strong visual companion for all the songs! I hope she does that for LG8 since she wont for LG7. I feel like Gaga is beyond singles now tbh...shes at a point in her career where she has enough hits and recent hits too to fill stadiums probably forever (tho obviously hit singles are always a welcome bonus but u know what I mean).

also...would anyone else be slayed if Gaga released LG8 shortly after LG7? Especially since we know she will likely be taking a long time off to focus on possibly starting a family and stuff after this era so it would be amazing if she released LG8 shortly after LG7 and then toured both records (especially since the tour is rumored to be in 2026 do it gives her LOADS of time to promote two albums and eras)
