After my 7th re-watch, I'm starting to think this could dethrone Bad Romance, or at least sit comfortably alongside it.

Does anyone know how important is Shazam for a song? And how its mechanics usually work? I remember reading that it is one of the best ways to find out which songs are going viral, but do new releases usually grow in the first week(s)? Or only the ones who are actually getting bigger?

Can't wait to read your review king, enjoy the f*cking show! :duca:

I was so shocked I had to call and wake my best friend in France (we were watching every Gaga video together back then (stopped during Joanne because… life)).

It made me emotional. Sent me back to the TFM-BTW-ARTPOP times and made me think of how everything has changed since… anyway, it's weird :priceless:

The important thing is: WE ARE SO BACK!

US radio DJs use it as one metric (of several, others being a song's virality and/or performance on streaming services) when determining which songs to give more radio play to. I think it's one reason Bloody Mary was rising on pop radio for 3-4 months (even after it had peaked on streaming).

"Disease" is a blast of infectious yet off-kilter pop, but oftentimes the experience of a Lady Gaga song is intensely enhanced by a freaky music video. Today, she provided one for "Disease."

As usual, the music video is cinematic, set in a humdrum suburban neighborhood where several of her characters (all played by her, of course) cause mayhem, almost Edward Scissorhands-style with one particular villain dressed in all black and donning ridiculously long and sharp acrylic nails. Gaga gets hit by a car, dances handcuffed to a pole above her, and nearly gets crushed by two colliding walls.

One detail I noticed in the video is that the pavement on the street looks fresh, and if this was filmed in the summer, it must've hurt running on it :rip: the streets in my parents' neighborhood got repaved this summer, and when I would go on walks with them it felt like you were walking in an oven just being near it :skull:

Are we sure the neighborhood set isn't in a huge studio? they usually have huge street sets like this in warehouses.

My favorite Lady Gaga mvs:

1. Alejandro

2. Bad Romance

3. Paparazzi

4. 911

5. Marry The Night

6. Applause or Disease

Not me only now noticing the other Gaga character in the background during the scene where she is stomping onto herself :jonnyknife:

I do prefer this to Applause music video, which felt like it was just stuffed to the brim with a few too many ideas.

there's one thing i don't get in the mv though. why is the newly born gaga at the end scared of the dark figure? i thought the new gaga was supposed to embrace darkness? like she embrasses her until she sees her face then run away and the walls are closing on her...

maybe she ran away one last time and realized she couldn't escape her own darkness anymore? idk maybe i'm dumb and also i can't remember exactly what gaga said on her story adkdkljfkslfd

might relate to her fears, similar to the fame monster album/era as she's returning back to her darkness which pushed her success back then

She honestly ate!!!

Parris (even though we didn't see a fleshed out choreo) did an amazing job with her movement direction. Gaga's movement looks so polished. And it's the small things that get to me, like her spasm on the car right before she wakes up and starts singing. Truly an excellent job. i'm SO excited for this era.  I'm so happy that she's going back to this dark aesthetic/sound. I feel she's doing this for her OG fans. If she wanted to be super succesful and just bag hits left and right she'd release HAC songs. There's no doubt Shallow,ARUTW,DWAS are her most global and huge hits of her since BTW (and some of the biggest hits of any artist this past decade lbr).

Suburban Horror would actually be a sickening album title.
