Ok just listened for the first time, here are my thoughts after five listens (they are not completely positive, so I'm putting them in a spoiler for all the Little Children who have an issue understanding the concept of an opinion that does not align with theirs)

Spoiler

it's.... kind of cookie cutter? idk. for me, gaga had one of two options with LG7- go completely experimental and show us her full potential in totally new, but still pop, territory, like many of the greats have done before her. I'm talking her Ray of Light era with a "Frozen" kind of lead, or take that Gaga weirdness to the next level a la Kate Bush, or even something just slightly left-field in the EDM world like Charli's von dutch. This is none of those things.

The other option, which I think she tried to do here, is do a "back-to-your-roots" kind of classic Gaga throwback. This requires not showing much growth but instead, showing us you've still got what you already had. for this kind of comeback to be successful, you have meet or succeed the standard you set back in your heyday. It's clear she was going for a "dark electro pop bawp" with a big chorus. That means the standard was Bad Romance, Dance in the Dark, Sheibe, and Judas. This does not meet any of those standards. It's a fine song, but it's the worst of the ones I just listed. You simply can't do a "back-to-your-roots" kind of comeback and not releasing something as good as your roots.

So I'm a little disappointed, but I'm still hopeful for the album. It may also grow on me, but songs don't usually grow on me upon listening to them unless they're really experimental. My brain decides if it likes a basic pop hook pretty quickly, and I don't think I'm feeling this unfortunately.

I'm happy for all the fans who finally got the dark bawp they wanted! And I'm excited for the video.

Disease opens at #16 on AM Global. Also, the song going #62 on AM US so far is great considering APT. peaked at #34 despite being #1 on Spotify.

The fact that it's also growing in playlist reach so much is also good, it means that either her team is getting their **** together or the song's performance warrants Spotify putting it on more playlists.

It only rose because it entered some top 50 charts.

This is kinda my favorite type of music. This is so groovy, LOVE the beat, lots of personality on her vocal. NEED

So that means the song's performance warrants its increase in playlist exposure like I said. I don't think WW for example was getting added to so many top 50 playlists on day 2.

Also I'm also disappointed that we didn't get the MV on release but I think using it to boost the song later on could prove to be a smart move.

Not much hate from KatyKats this time. It's mostly the Beyhive, Arianators, Swifties and Army dragging the numbers. Wonder why.

Keep streaming!

In a way it could give it an increase but then the ones who listened out of curiosity might not. But because this is considered a good song it might even it out so I'm expecting a 4M update tomorrow, no big increase no big drop. But I hope it increases of course :duca:

do love the way her voice growls at the end of the second pre-chorus when she says "antidote tonight." Very TFMesque.

4m seems a bit optimistic tbh considering it hasn't seemed to gain much exposure since yesterday, I think ~3.5m~ would be a more realistic for a good 2nd day

I'm in the very very small minority who thinks this way, but I prefer the good old days when the video would come 2 weeks after the single. it was like being slayed twice the amount.

Plus, idk if I have that weird thing where my brain makes me associate colors/vibes with music, but it gives me a chance to sit in whatever world my brain creates in reaction to the song. If I hear the song with a visual for the first time, I will forever pair it with that visual whenever I hear it. Not the case when the video comes later.
