Denim Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Okay so… I've waited a long time to give my thoughts because the song is a lot to take in and also wanted everyone to enjoy it to keep enjoying it At first, I liked many elements of the song but didn't loveeee it. I think NOTHING would've met my unfairly high expectations and hype I set up for this. With that said, after 10 plays now and some hours to decompress… I love it! I don't think it's the best song ever like some are praising, BUT ITS GREAT! The production is fresh, interesting, and exciting. It's born this way meets nine inch nails but with a modern twist. This is an amazing sign for the rest of the album. the verses, pre chorus, and outro are actually up there as some of her best PERIOD. the only critiques I just gotta be honest with is… I don't love the chorus as of right now. (LOVE the final chorus though) Maybe it'll grow on me, but it's kinda giving "Woman's world" melody meets perfect illusion vocals. I like the post chorus though. It's not bad but just feels substantially weaker than the amazing pre chorus and verses. It pays off during the final chorus/outro though. second, I don't love the lyrics, they're a bit basic, but they work. 8.5-9/10 but there's room to grow, I'm loving it more and more every listen and finding new aspects that I didn't hear or appreciate the listen prior. It's VERY layered and complex sonically, which I think I took at first as noisy/overproduced but now have come to loved (I felt the same way about many of my all time favorite Gaga songs where they had to sorta grow on me) 4
fossora Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Enough time has passed Bad Romance > Just Dance > Perfect Illusion > Disease = Applause > Born This Way > Stupid Love
Almodusa Posted October 25 Posted October 25 The aaaaaahhh's in the background of the chorus are such a good touch 2
Bamboo Posted October 25 Posted October 25 To me I think the order is objectively Bad Romance > Just Dance > Disease > Applause > Born This Way > Perfect Illusion > Stupid Love 1 1
Denim Posted October 25 Posted October 25 This song is going to benefit SO much from a killer music video. The song SOUNDS visual if that makes any sense. I'm already starting to reeeeally like it the more I listen… but I think the music video could elevate it to next level 7

Denim Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Seriously the pre chorus is next level. The "uh-huuuuh" is MAGICAL!!! Obsessed with it. The post chorus "ooooooooooaaaah!" Is also magical. 1

''
SweetOreosOfHeaven Posted October 25 Posted October 25 so allegedly it's doing better than DWAS on debut day (without MV) if it debuts higher it'll be fun to drag the "thank you bruno"sters even if only for a day 3
