Wait…. this is fake

For public. Facebook was a college-only network for like 4 years before that. It was an actual hate group.

This was confirmed by a second hand account.

https://theworld.org/stories/2016/01/17/when-they-dissed-future-lady-gaga

Spoiler

When I was a freshman at NYU and Facebook was only a year old and people created/joined groups like "I have dimples" and "Fake ID, please!," I remember coming across a Facebook group that broke my heart. It's name, something like: "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous."

The page housed pictures of a pretty Norah Jones-esque young 18-year-old NYU student who sang and played piano at local bars.

The group was peppered with comments, sharp as porcupine needles, vilifying the aspiring musician for being an "attention-*****." Scores asked: "Who does she think she is?" I also remember one dude posting a flyer for one of her upcoming gigs at a local village bar. He had clearly stomped on the flyer, an outline of his muddy sole [soul] struggling to eclipse her name.

I couldn't shake the raw feeling of filth while scrolling down that Facebook page, but I pretty much — and quickly — forgot about that group and that girl with the intense raven eyes.

Until about five years later. I was on an Amtrak train from NYC to Philly, reading a Vanessa Grigoriadis New York Magazine profile on Lady Gaga. I floated somewhat mindlessly through the piece until I got to the first sentence of the second paragraph:

"Before the meeting, I assumed that someone with a stage name like "Lady" (her given name is Stefani Joanne Germanotta) was going to be a bit standoffish…"

HOLY S—, I screamed to an empty car (Those who hang with me will know that I actually shrieked). LADY GAGA IS STEFANI GERMANOTTA? STEFANI IS LADY GAGA?

I was overcome with a dizzying emotional cocktail of stage-mom-at-a-beauty-pageant and nerd-revenge triumph. But also shame. Shame that I never wrote on that group, shame that I never defended the girl with the intense raven eyes — the girl whose brave flyers were stomped on, probably somewhere near my dorm.

But, you know what they say :gaygacat4:

Please Please Please, I Had Some Payola, and Espresso might still be a little too strong on radio despite the fact that DWAS is outstreaming all of them, but DWAS will most likely be ahead of all three of them the week after this one (as long as streams stay stable and it continues to gain on radio like it has been, which it should).

Now whether Taste stays ahead of DWAS on US streaming (and behind it on radio) going forward remains to be seen. It's stayed ahead thus far, but it's drops on US and WW Spotify have been bigger than DWAS's. If DWAS leaps ahead of Taste and Bar Song continues to fall at the rate it has been, the #1 would be within reach in 2-3 weeks.

Of course this doesn't factor in if another big artist drops or another song blows up in the next few weeks, but DWAS will have most likely built up a comfortable radio lead by that point. And its stability on streaming has been amazing thus far.

What about Shafloozey?

Is there a big artist releasing soon? I can see DWAS staying at top for more than a month.

Only because you can't really thank yourself, I think when you're in the room with this person you don't really have to do too much. She acts, she writes, she sings the song. Lady Gaga, we salute you; thank you for this.

His song is dropping on radio and is below DWAS on streaming. If DWAS's streaming numbers stay stable and its radio growth stays consistent, I'm predicting that the song will be beneath DWAS in terms of chart points in 2-3 weeks.

Can't believe this is shaping up to be one of her biggest hits yet. And we are talking about the girl who has Poker Face, Bad Romance and Shallow on her catalogue. :jonny2:

Each of Gaga's three biggest songs in terms of WW SPS may end up being from three different decades: Poker Face (2000s), Shallow (2010s), and Die with a Smile (2020s). That's extremely rare :gaygacat4:

With Bad Romance and Just Dance rounding out the top 5 and ARTUW eventually getting into 6th place despite only being released as a single in two countries, her run as a hitmaker is insanely strong. Her smashes have massive SPS totals, strong recurrents, and are spread out over 16 years. Not to mention that her songs are extremely global too. When Gaga gets a hit, she gets a hit.  :jonny5:

When Gaga gets a smash, it's an intergalactic smash. Poker Face, Bad Romance, Shallow, and now Die With A Smile. They are bigger than the biggest hits of other pop girls.

Hopefully DWAS can manage to go #1 in the US, it wouldn't be less of a smash If it doesn't, but it would still be nice
