Y'all need to stop. Directors and producers show films to a bunch of people when they're working with early cuts. This just means they asked him to watch it and give his opinion on it, probably a few dozen other producers and industry people (actors, writers, etc) 

 

James Gunn will probably also eventually watch an early cut of The Batman II and also give notes even though he's not really involved in that production. Doesn't really mean much tbh. 

 

We'll start hearing about them showing it to audiences sometime early next year.

James Gunn is head of DC Studios so of course he would view the first cut of the film and give notes.
 

He replies to rumours and randos on social media (a lot ) about the progress of the DC slate, which is why he is clarifying this was a WB project before he signed on; he also talked about how the Batman sequel won’t be part of his planned extended universe either but that he has still been given the pitch for the movie and will read the script when it’s done (and will likely give notes then too). It’s not about whether he thinks it’s good or bad, just his level of involvement. 

 

What it does mean though is that the movie is well on its way to be being finalised. Which is a good thing. We will likely get a trailer in front of Godzilla x Kong or Dune Part 2.
