Yup, it has several things working in its favor (Gaga’s brilliant casting bringing in demographics who didn’t watch the first film + being “must see” for people that did, a unique premise for its genre, taking enough risks to be interesting, people wanting to see how Joaquin follows up the role that won him the Oscar, and 2024 being relatively dry of “event movies” due to the SAG/WGA strikes. Not to mention the Harley and Joker costumes look relatively easy to replicate which could make them a very popular “couples’ costume” for Halloween 2024).

100% agree. And the set leaks, the virality, the discourse over "Who is this for?1?1?" and "Audiences will be turned off by [xyz]!1!1!"... the Barbie deja vu is a biT too strong. Gird your loins girlies!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed the set leaks going viral were generating a similar level of chatter to Barbie’s set leaks. And the best part of all of this is that there is no possibility of her team’s rampant unprofessionalism getting in the way for once
