Lady Gaga could be eyeing up a fourth Oscar nod for Best Original Song. The singer will appear in DC movie Joker: Folie À Deux next year and the film’s music producer has hinted she could feature on the soundtrack.

Quote

Asked if she has lent her skills to it, Sam Slater confirmed the score has been finished and said of Gaga: “You will just have to wait and see. But they’ve done a great job, that’s all I can say.”

And with rumours she is working on her seventh album, it’s shaping up to be another big year for Gaga.

On one hand, The Sun has a decent-ish track record with music-related tea (better than their general celebrity gossip, anyways).

On the other hand, it's still The Sun

I also think that Chromatica could have gotten into all General Field categories if not for the panel, for the past few years nearly all of the nominees in Best Pop Vocal Album tended to make Album of the Year as it's by far the biggest voting bloc, and there's an argument to be made that she was Top 3 in the BPVA category given her track record in Pop and ROM's win

I was personally less surprised at ASIB being snubbed by the panel as opposed to Chromatica, it was over a year old and was competing against albums that peaked way later in the eligibility period. The Grammys tend to have this complex where Gaga overperforms in nominations one year and yet underperforms in wins in the same year, and then for her next era they snub her because they think they gave her too much before :skull: I kinda predicted that would be the case with ASIB, they probably viewed Shallow as her "chance" to clean up and didn't feel the need to give her another opportunity. It's kind of a slap in the face after so many people skated by with a bunch of nominations for eras that underperformed just because of their name after the panels were dropped (i.e., Bieber, Lizzo, etc)

Toucanne and Chartdrop didn't have a chance in hell regardless of the panel, but I always felt that Million Reasons had a feasible chance at ROTY and SOTY and was kind of disappointed when that fell through as well

Chromatica was never getting in before they changed the panel. Had it been eligible for the year later it would’ve got it. Grammys feel less snobby since 2020.

Yeah the only music-related tea I can recall them getting wrong as of late wasn't even Gaga-related (they said Adele would release another studio album in 2022).

Of course, all they said about LG7 is that there's rumors she's working on it (which is a pretty obvious statement; we've been discussing them for months in here). It doesn't say anything about how far along she is/when it's getting released.

if Monsters could just accept the fact that her time as a culturally relevant popstar ended long ago, they'd be a lot happier

What I do agree with is that’s time to modernise our POV on Gaga .She ain’t topping TFM/btw that’s clear as day, both commercially and critically - and the days of 5 single pop era are over. Monsters want all this  but they’d laugh and meltdown, call it  dated when she inevitably fails to replicate the eras from decades ago.

We can’t go back, we can only move forward.

It’s crazy how the biggest cupcakes who get the most offended by the slightest critique of Gaga also have the most defeatist attitudes about her position in the industry:deadbanana2:

sorry but I still believe in her and I believe she can deliver a critically acclaimed album, she may not be “culturally relevant” enough to smash like Taylor Swift but she’s still Lady ******* Gaga, put some respect on her name!

Her strength is her reinvention. A bit like how it was ASIB that established her on streaming and gave her a critical repeak, she can indeed do a good album but it’ll be in her own way of being a chameleon.

Had a weird Gaga related dream last night

She was on Telemundo. At the start of the segment she performed the first 30 seconds of Do What U Want. Then she announced that she was raising money for a Hilary Clinton Memorial Garden. Then the host said that Gaga was going to be a guest star on a new episode of The Rookie (a mediocre cop show)

Later I was at the fundraiser and she was selling vinyls of Sweet Sound of Heaven

Yeah, 2023 probably was the most uneventful year of her career and the worst for us as stans. I mean, these were the only things we got “officially”:

1. The Oscars performance (the acoustic approach was a mistake imo, it could’ve been so much better with a piano)

2. Another Las Vegas leg (that no one asked for :skull:)

3. Sweet Sounds of Heaven release (I like the song unlike most of you, but she didn’t even had a proper solo verse)
