Neither in January nor February, we have any big promo spot that could further decent debut numbers. And as seen with Disease, Gaga cannot just release solo material and hope for it to succeed: she needs promo.

I hope they're aware of this situation, and have something prepared for the 2nd single and the album release.

Grammy Awards USA (Feb 2), Brit Awards UK (Mar 1).

Despite my year(s) of mostly listening to Asian men, Bad Romance has remained my all-time most played song on Last.fm.

My Apple Music Replay just updated for the week.

Disease has been out for a little over a month but has become my second most played song for the year already.

Just listened / ran back to BTW from start to end (including bonus tracks) after a long week and feeling low and daaamn. This album truly is something else. As Edge of Glory was ending I was wondering 'is there any album that makes me feel like this?'. And (sadly), the answer was 'no'. At least till - I hope - Gaga's next album.

Any recommandation while I wait for LG7?

Yeah, but they no longer have the same impact as 10 or 20 years ago. They're slowly fading into irrelevancy.

A performance will give a nice boost, but nothing compared to a Super Bowl (for MR) or the Oscars (gor Shallow).

We just cannot rely on the Grammmy nor the Brits for LG7 or the 2nd single to be a success.

I don't disagree with most of what you're saying, obviously I can't know for a fact if the album was supposed to come out earlier this year, but It was definitely supposed to come out this year, pretty sure we got confirmation of that multiple times, no? I doubt they planned to release the album in February 2025 considering they finished it before Summer 2024 started. But it's all speculation I guess.

And yes you're right about JFAD it was the one time that she was prepared to strike when iron was hot only for it to.. bomb :skull:

But I still think that she should be stepping away from the traditional usual type of release and moving towards more innovative ways of launching her projects. That's basically all I'm saying. Also it worries me a bit that LG7 sound might be a result of Bloody Mary smashing. At first I was excited and happy about the prospects of that... but I don't want Gaga to be trying to get a tik tok hit and to be forcing it and so on. I don't think that would work. To me it seems like they are relying too much on tik tok.

I mean in this case it's not that messy I just feel like it's a bit too traditional for today's day and age. And the fact that she might not be touring next year kinda makes it feel like she is always behind idk. She has toured once since 2017 that's kinda insane :rip:  Other artists have had multiple stadium tours etc. and I haven't complained about it until now, because if she isn't touring next year I just find that kinda weird that's all.

Totally agree. You hit the nail on the head mentioning Harlequin and how that did seem like she was trying something new and it was exciting but ultimately disappointing since it was for an cover album. I wouldn't yet rule out that they are going to do something different this time around simply because she seems much more open to working with new people and new people = new ideas.

'Disease' itself sounds like it could be a product of Bloody Mary smashing, but the other tracks she previewed don't imo. I think if 'Disease' was chosen as the lead for being the most palatable, I think we're in for an album that pushes her sonically in a way we haven't heard in a long time. Long story short, I'm keeping my expectations open bc she hasn't technically done anything (yet) to make me doubt this era.

I may be reaching but I don't think she visited Japan for shits and giggles. It seemed like a business trip... but for what we don't know. Would she need to visit a country in person in order to book promo or a tour? I didn't think so, but maybe they have something specific planned for Japan.

edit: beyonce's album drops feel like an event because her fanbase helps make them into events. beyonce sure in the hell doesn't do much of anything, but her fans force it all onto people. monsters would never do that because this fanbase is a mess lol.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I still believe that blaming our fanbase misses the mark. Beyoncé, for instance, has a massive and diverse fanbase. Even if she's coasting on her name, she's already solidified her brand and appeal. "Beyoncé" has become synonymous with quality, spectacular tours, raw talent, and a stunning voice. Almost everyone is a Beyoncé fan in some way, which makes it easier for her team and fandom to create widespread excitement. Her projects generate buzz naturally, boosted by meticulously planned launches like the Super Bowl etc.

Gaga, on the other hand—and especially her team—have spent years alienating the fanbase. Even if we wanted to push something, we don't have the numbers to make a significant impact. At this point, we're only in the thousands. Her playing all these festivals next year is a clear example of her trying to fix this issue imo

Lemme preface what I'm about to say with this: I think Beyonce is fantastic, talented, and deserves all of her success.

With that said, a lot of what we see about Beyonce online is inflated. When you look at the raw numbers, she doesn't perform the way people act like she does. That's not to say she's a flop, because she's not, but the way her PR works would make you think she sells like Taylor when she's not even close. The reason Beyonce turned into BEYONCE was in part because her fanbase backs her up and makes sure everyone knows about what she's doing. They take what Beyonce's team does and amplifies it to a thousand. If you go to any regular site where the "general public" comments, the reactions to everything Beyonce does is are nearly universally negative. You'll see comments ranging anywhere from "liking her but she's overrated" to thinking she's part of P. Diddy's sex ring :rip:. Point is, when you have a fanbase that actually supports you, you can accomplish a lot more than if you don't. I mean, Beyonce put out an album and then just dipped. Gave her fans nothing after that but the perception around Beyonce and the fan push kept people talking about the album while it fell down the charts.

And to be fair, there's nothing Gaga can really do about that. You say she's alienated her fanbase, but in reality she's only done things that make her happy, which a fanbase "should" support? Taylor Swift's fanbase would support Taylor taking a **** into her own mouth while Gaga's fanbase really only supports her if she's #1. Gaga has the same respect, reputation, and adoration from the public and industry as Taylor and Beyonce, but without a proper push from her fans, things fall on deaf ears. Gaga fans are often the first people to push negative stories and narratives about her. They're often the ones to contribute to any backlash because they lash out at Gaga when they don't get their way. Other fanbases aren't like that, they do the opposite and try to shield their faves. And while I don't think that kind of blind allegiance is healthy at all, Gaga fans don't know how to play the middle ground. They much rather be nasty and mean than be supportive because a lot of them, no shade, are miserable human beings in the real world. But I guess that's what happens when your core fanbase is made up of genuinely mentally ill social outcasts (or used to be).
