It's wild because if it was an EP with the two original songs and The Joker / Close to You they wouldn't complain. It's just because it's a full album with a lot of jazz it's suddenly some nightmare project that took up space. Mind you the songs they like are still on the album.

Not everyone likes jazz. Some of y'all need to accept that for a huge number of monsters jazz is not it and will never be appealing.

But like I said, a good amount of those songs aren't even jazz anyway. If she just released those an EP it wouldn't be beat around like a dead horse on here lol. idk why people can't just  enjoy the songs they enjoy without dragging the whole project and pretending they were betrayed with a jazz record.

I feel like most fans know she's never hanging up her love of Jazz. It's just the timing of Harlequin's release in between DWAS, JFAD, and the then-upcoming LG7 lead single.

Anyways, call me delusional but I still want Disease to become a hit. Even if it's not a smash, can we at least get some cute legs for the song as a nice little goodbye gift to the cursed year that was 2024?

This week where we thought we'd get her Paramore era was so good before the 🎺🎺🎺 ruined it ☠️

We were SO HAPPY that day. And then that NASTY "good morning" song RUINED EVERYTHING.:suburban:

Gaga can of course do what she wants, but at this point it seems like jazz is starting to have a negative impact on the size and dedication of the core fandom, and the jazz audience is already very small anyway, so continuing to release jazz music frequently might be a mistake careerwise.

the horrific insults and mental illness of the OGHs...I truly feel sorry for them

as someone who likes jazzga. it is weird she/her camp promotes [forces] jazz more than her pop records since 2014.

u would think she was a full time jazz singer that transitioned into pop.

None of her 6.5 tracks got a mv or promo that cost any budget except some billboards… why still bothered over her doing some online promo…

if i knew this was how disease was gonna be treated. i wished she put more energy into happy mistake.

She's posting tiktoks and reposting them with Disease. She's acknowledging the song exists and isn't missing in action :deadbanana: only so much she can do during a Christmas freeze. Starting Friday it's going to be nothing but Christmas music until January 1 :deadbanana:

Well from her pov she was feeling like everybody aped her Gaga sound and image that made her unique as a pop star. She knows what they can't ape is her talent, and her musicianship which she feels is best demonstrated in jazz, which none of her peers can do. I think it's been a comfort zone for her because pop is innately competitive (and has alienated her) while jazz is more of a celebration of music & talent that she doesn't have to 'play the game' for.

Ringing in my birthday with BTW :gaygacat9:

Today marks 15 years since The Monster Ball Tour began & when her Bad Romance/Speechless performances & interview on Ellen aired :alexz:

Spoiler

DWAS being #1 this week would've been great too but alas :grump:

Yeah, she treats pop music like this thing she does occasionally and jazz as her main gig.

As someone who enjoys half of Harlequin, yes it's not fully jazz etc. but it was still very misleading on Gaga's part. I honestly don't know what she thought, especially with that awful song Good Morning opening the album, her being more excited for Harlequin than Disease, her promoting Harlequin more, there was a full weak of teasing leading up to it (Disease had none of that), she was spotted wearing t-shirts etc.  and the snippets she posted were hinting at an alt. rock album. And then bam, it's another album in the veins of L4S and C2C full of covers. It was super misleading and it definitely killed the hype for LG7 along with JFAD bombing. One of the biggest mistakes she's made in her career tbh. One thing is JFAD bombing - she can't control that, a whole different thing is dropping a surprise release right before LG7 era is about to start, hinting that it's original alt rock and hyping it up and then it ends up being another cover album with traditional pop/jazz songs :rip:

As someone who enjoyes some of this music, it was a mess mostly for these reasons:

1. It literally does not fit the visuals of Harlequin, the album cover looks so cool and then the music is literally cheek 2 cheek 2.0.  Makes no sense.

2. It could've been a  great holiday album with the same covers/reenditions (excluding Joker and Folie a deux) and it would've been received well by the fanbase. But instead it was hyped as a surprise release and she never even disclosed it's just a bunch of covers until we heard it ourselves and was dropped right before LG7 era was about to start.
3. I feel like even if JFAD was successful, Harlequin would've still bombed, because nobody is here for that kinda music especially not in relation to a beloved badass character named Harley Quinn :rip:
