Die With A Smile feels so timely right now where the world "feels like it's ending" and people just want to love. "I can cure your disease" just has nothing to it.. a GREAT pop song but an empty pop song with her backtracking to a sound that doesn't even resonate right now and doesn't feel "right" for where her career is at. Die With A Smile just makes so much more sense with where she has positioned herself over the years as an entertainer in the cultural zeitgeist. Gaga is beyond that dark pop star persona and is a full blown well-rounded "showbiz" type superstar, so seeing her do a TFM redux with Disease while also watching her deliver an authentic powerful song like DWAS is just kind of odd.. but that's my tea no i agree. Disease is more of a personal struggle song that doesn't have a more universal, lovely message like DWAS

This time around she didn't really commit into the single, ofc times have changed, but in any other era by this time we would have so much more content to accompany the song. Besides that, I love the song, but it is not catchy... It does makes more sense to have DWAS, Shallow, ARUTW at this point of her career since it fits the "well-rounded showbiz superstar". But this is Lady Gaga part of her magic is making songs her peers wouldn't be able to pull off and Disease is just that. And from an artistic POV it feels like she wants to fulfill the whole Lady and Gaga duality thing, even tho one makes more profit than the other. It is still crazy that she went from "Pop music will never be low bro" to smash hit power house ballads. You also have to give her flowers when it comes to duetting and chemistry.
