Well, radio had more choices pre-streaming because artists were releasing up to five singles from each album so they switched quicker. Nowadays, one song is dominating the entire era and they keep playing that one song instead.

Of course TV performances can cause a song to experience increases but it needs to have a lot of people sharing it on social media so it goes viral. I've seen a clip of APT's performance on TikTok just less than two hours ago. But there are still a lot of performances that don't translate to big increases and TV performances or concert performances have the same effect more or less. It's all about TikTok.

Probably boat mates but hopefully the far off album date gives her a chance to restart the era with another lead single with maybe a viral video or something, otherwise we will be in the trenches for the next era

Well, i'd hope a classic Gaga performance would do some numbers online. Her entire first half of her career was about viral moments. The fact she doesn't even try isn't working clearly

I think it will depend on how LG7 does. If the album does well in can cause Disease to have a resurgence on streaming.

Perfect Illusion (and the whole Joanne album) benefited from the Super Bowl and Million Reasons becoming a hit

 

Hopefully Interscope has some tricks up their sleeves to make LG7 a hit. But I'm a little worried because I think they were planning for the album to ride on the coattails of JFAD's success before it flopped

What is this pessimism? She doesn't need a new lead, she just needs a hit single. Let's hope she gets in in her next era, she hasn't had a single era yet without one and although I know that streak will end someday, let's hope this is not the era for it. She's still not old enough to be a victim of ageism so if they play their cards right she can still score a hit. They need to go all in on release day and with music video with choreo. 

 

Gaga would've been better off with a new manager instead of wasting her last years of relevancy on Bobby but it is what it is. And I think they'd be out quicker with another single had Christmas not been arriving.

It's funny about Gaga. When she was riding high on ASIB she was completely dragged left and right for her success. She was mocked and shaded all throughout the era for the smallest of things. If Gaga was in Wicked and had rehearsed for the role since she was a kid she'd be dragged even when successful because it's "nothing exceptional," "she had advantages because she rehearsed it for so long" and if her solo version of Popular debuted to 1M+ streams like Ariana's did she'd be mocked for it too and if she was considered a strong contender for the Supporting Actress category at the Oscars she'd be ridiculed for it being only supporting and only because she's singing. I think Ariana's a success don't get me wrong but there's this bias towards Gaga. It's like everyone's allowed to have missteps or victories but Gaga is not. So many others have had leads tank and they weren't as brutally attacked as Gaga. Even Katy. Is it because she's talented or? I just saw Perez Hilton on TikTok proclaim Disease to be a flop just in time to sway the "featureGa" narrative. It's an L if she wins and an L is she loses.

It's so weird how it doesn't even feel as big as Shallow, but will probably reach a new peak on that chart.
