opbranden Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I'm honestly shocked by the overwhelmingly negative reaction to this cameo news. After Bloody Mary went viral, everyone was talking about how perfect Gaga would be for a role in season 2. Now, it's wild to see that nearly 90% of the comments are negative. I really underestimated how much the flop of Joker 2 impacted her image. I figured that since so few people actually watched it, no one would remember or hold it against her (considering she was the only saving grace for that movie). But it seems like the general impression has stuck: people think she "turned it into a musical," and now they're worried she'll somehow ruin Wednesday, even though it's just a cameo. I get that people love to hate, but if they're upset, they should direct it at Todd Phillips instead. He's the one responsible for what happened 1 1

Same, by the time the season actually comes out, they'll have found something else to hate on. Isn't it supposed to release next October anyway? This is the RT comment section... And it's not even like I'm picking the worst ones—every comment is like this. Spoiler 1
atemyheartinc Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Someone needs to speak up about the whole Joker situation and clarify that it was always intended to be a musical long before Gaga was cast in the role. The general public is so misinformed Aside from A Star Is Born (which was more of a musical drama) and JFAD (a self-proclaimed musical), Lady Gaga has managed to keep her acting and music careers separate. I don't recall any musical numbers in AHS: Hotel, Roanoke, or House of Gucci. The narrative that "she will turn everything into a musical" needs to be shut down immediately. Spoiler Todd Phillips, you've ruined everything. 3 1

Gaga's team could also do some press news about how it was meant to be musical before her casting, like Variety/THR. 2

I'm still so frustrated with that WB executive who had the nerve to blame the movie's flop on "the male audience not connecting with Gaga's Harley." I mean, who approved the project and wrote the script in the first place? It was their choice to give Todd full control—Gaga had no say in any of that, so how can they pin it on her? We know how respectful and gracious Gaga is. Even after the movie, when Joaquin criticized it, she still put on a brave face and respected the project. Honestly, they didn't deserve her. 1

It's so funny how the blame is being placed on someone who had little to no screen time, while the person who directed the movie and Joaquin, who was in every single scene (and also had a say in everything concerning the film), face no repercussions. But in the real world, most of the people I know who saw the film and didn't like it didn't blame Gaga for it—except for one person, who told me the film felt like a vanity project for Gaga to prove she can sing, completely overlooking that she sang BELOW her potential in it. 3

I'm really taken aback from what a swing Joker 2 made to her image. I hope a lot of it is the fact that the spaces talking about the cameo are likely nerdy tv/movie spaces and not complete locals, but it's really disappointing. The hateful voices yelling "She ruined Joker 2 by making it a musical, now she's going to ruin this" are super unhinged and completely ill-informed. It's so frustrating to see because it's a simple fact that Todd and Joaquin made the musical choice. And those nerds usually get so high on "facts", where is that now? Misogyny > facts in that world I swear 5
