Oh well, I had Stupid Love, Rain On Me and 1000 Doves on repeat today, so at least, to me, it's still record full of bops. I used to love Plastic Doll but I can't listen to it now, the melody during the chorus is grating. There should be more synths in the chorus too. And the lyrics "don't play with ME, it just hurts ME" are just annoying. I don't know, I used to really like it. Sine From Above is also terrible, and have been since day 1. These 2 are the only skips to me (Free Woman could be better, but I like it now, and I really like Fun Tonight, but it feels like something is lacking for the production of the song). 2

But, she showed no interest for the project once it was released. She did not even reschedule a freaking listening party Idk, it seems that she did this album for the fans, like fan service. I wasn't privy to stan culture at that time but damn, that video and song are a time capsule of the weeks leading up to lockdown and the pandemic. SweetOreosOfHeaven Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I agree that Joanne era was a lot better than Chromatica. I started stanning after ARTPOP and these are the only two pop album eras I experienced as a stan and Joanne had much more content while Chromatica felt like a never-ending desert of content. It doesn't mean the album is bad, but obviously Gaga was less involved with it than any of her albums prior, and it showed, not only in the music itself (which lacks some Gaga wildness and imo the lack of production credits explains that) but also in her lack of commitment to the era and making things work. It really felt like she wasn't proud of it, and any other thing she could do was more important. It really sucked as a fan. Hopefully, she's much more passionate about the next era. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I loved her commitment to Million Reasons; I think it's one of her best ballads, and her believing in it really paid off and helped her career a lot in the long term; she knew what she was doing. However, Rain On Me release + music video was one of my favorite moments as a stan and 911 MV as well, which was a welcome change since I didn't really love any of the MV's from Joanne (especially MR and John Wayne). 1

And yes I do agree that this song and video are a time capsule of the pandemic , cause exactly this song and it's video are pandemic themselves. A never ending nightmare of cheapness and lack of artistry. A reminder that our ears are not that resistant and can be easily hurt by cheap goat noises like this song produces. These times might be extremely iconic for you but the Stupid Love era can be considered anything but iconic. Almost four years ago indeed and the trauma is still here. Humanity had to endure two pandemics at the same time. 1 5

I didn't want to tour... I didn't want to record music..." yes she was bitter than Joanne ended up not healing her father, but that was such a hopeless attempt... she was everywhere screaming how proud she was of Joanne not saying she hates Chroma but she made sure to detach herself from that album like crazy, even her Grammy win for it, she spent days silent and posted a thank u message a week later or so while she was so happy to celebrate Bloody Mary being on radio despite in both cases being in the middle or at the start of shooting movies 4

Here’s mine: 1. The Fame Monster 2. The Fame 3. Born This Way 4. A Star Is Born 5. Chromatica 6. Joanne 7. ARTPOP I’ve been following GÁR since I was 8 during PF’s single run. Been to 11 concerts, have 2 autographed CDs, an autographed vinyl (it’s Joanne mess ), and have met her 5-10 times in the city. Even snuck in some pap pics during her 2018 Electric Lady sessions. My Liddo stan card has some miles on it to say the least… I’ve been anticipating an LG7 2024 release for quite some time now, so quite excited we’re ~a month out. Hope she delivers her FLOWERS moment (i.e., unexpected, universal, runaway smash) with the lead single. I wouldn’t mind a similar funky/punky groove/aesthetic for the album either. And last but not least, JFAD later this year, which will arguably be the biggest platform of career thus far. Probably the most excited I’ve ever been for one of her projects yet, maybe besides BTW single/album releases.
