they didn't record this in front of an audience and it was pre-taped, so I'm very interested to hear what it will sound like live live.  I think a half second more of a pause before the bridge would make it pack more of a punch.

I think for those who are watching the numbers (i.e. streams, downloads, charts), I can understand why because we love Kelly and we want to see her succeed.

 

I don't think we need to obsess about the numbers given the stage of her career right now. However, I do think keeping an eye on the numbers can be fun and the numbers do ultimately play into how Atlantic works with Kelly moving forward. It's the music business after all, so they have to be able to justify the spend on Kelly's projects if there's no significant ROI. So downstream, it impacts the type of marketing and promo and budgets for her releases for future albums. If the demand for music from Kelly is low, then that signals to Kelly (and her team) that she doesn't need to put out music that regularly, which also impacts us as fans who want to continue getting new material from her.

 

Just my 2 cents!

 

Either way, I'm excited to see what people's feedback is about the new music at the birthday event next week and what other promo might be lined up leading up to the album release in late June!

I get what you're saying, but we're already at 6 years between non-christmas albums and she's in her 40s.  slowing down of music releases was always going to happen, whether atlanta gives her a high budget or not.  if the divorce didn't happen and she didn't have so much material she wanted to get out, would we even have gotten an album this year? lol.

^ in fact i've always had the impression that the album was delayed by the divorce. From what she was saying back then at golden globes about MOL, Stronger and Breakaway baby etc, it seemed to me that the album wasn't far from being finished but after the divorce happened, she likely scrapped it all and started from the beginning.

You're probably right.  I just think at this stage of her career, we're gonna see longer times between releases in general.

Exciting to see! Once she starts doing prime time slots (The Voice, Fallon, etc.) I’m sure it’ll give a nice boost as well if daytime appearances are already helping.

Just noticed that in PxP (the song) she sings "piece by piece, he restored my faith, that a man can be kind..." about BB.  And then in Mine, she calls him "so unkind" in the chorus for breaking her heart.

 

I love how she's making an effort to retcon every song she's every written about him or something lol.

Mine up to #12 and me up to #15. Mien was #27 this morning so the performance definitely helped! Also if all those Princess Diana songs were not there it would be up 5 more spots
