I feel like DTN is an example of how wrong the FN era could've gone if she did a disco album but didn't go all the way :skull:
It fulfills its job, she was asked to make a disco pop track in early 2022 and now here we are, it's nice but that's it. I don't think it will be a big hit nor does it need to be. She'll get the Barbie promo exposure and she got a cute lil acting gig out of it, that's all that it needed to be

i'm at 150 plays, it's been a while since i've done this (well since Cold Heart). a very rich and luxe sounding Barbie bop.

The debut seems fine? It's always hard to tell with Dua because longevity is her thing, but I don't think 3m is bad at all. The upcoming days will be telling.

There will be drags because it's #1 on TTH and all, but we all know by now TTH isn't the massive hitmaker gays pretend it is.

DTN is like her Focus to DSN her Problem. her Judas to Bad Romance; although judas kind of goes off more than the other redux'.

I hope DL3 doesn't have any half assed attempts like DTN but i'll still bop to it tho, at least it's something new

Her/her team would be extremely dumb to even attempt to recreate FN, I don't think they'll come near that sound

The disco era is over, they put a crashed discoball into the MV for a reason.

I still need a version without the short transition from pre-chorus to chorus ( the I could dance, I could dance... part) and from post-chorus to 2nd verse. I think the song would've been much much better without those two transitions since they make it sound like 17 different songs crammed into one.

the transitions + the random intro "baby you can" from the first verse are serving that "you've never been to heaven, have you" opening line from sweetest pie.

we need her to stop with these transitional opening lines, they're not the iconic "did a full 1-80" they're trying to be :coffee2:

That's bull tbh nothing is as awful as Focus. And DTN is its own song, just like Judas; similar maybe but not a carbon copy

revisiting sweetest pie, i just bopped to it so much, it was done so bad by the music video. the sound sounds like it's so iconic 2000s and the bts photos we've got from the video are so great, they should have done some high fashion 2000-ed inspired music video for it and it would have been such a cute videography moment instead of that awful trend of CGI'd videos like god is a woman or whatever joseph kane comes up with :rip:

pls no heaviy cgi'd aesthetic for DL3 :ducky:

Quite frankly IDGAF (pun intended) about the Spotify numbers cause I been bopping to this song since it came out and I’m still not sick of it!

the production kind of goes off even tho it's a dsn redux but chorus is the weakest part of the song imo

verses > chorus ("when my heart breaks" b-part) >>>> chorus

It’s funny too, all the things they are upset at Dua for are things done by other artists now so they don’t have any reason to fume other than knowing Dua is the blueprint

No way, her first #1 song would be a collab, that too with Taylor...:dies:

I’m shocked it didn’t debut higher in the UK…

It’s a fun cute bop but idk if it will be a hit.  The chorus and lyrics are just too on the nose. It’s obviously a very formulaic song for a movie but that doesn’t always work with Dua. Ppl like when she serves something a little unexpected with interesting or quirkie lyrics / one liners. Levitating for example is kind of generic production wise BUT the lyrics and random memorable one liners / zingers and her delivery make it so much more interesting. Same with New Rules and Don’t Start Now. The lead for DL3 needs to ooze personality and charisma otherwise it might underperform.

Exactly. Something new and fresh for her with a darker vibe to it. Addictive stand out production and her mesmerizing vocals on full display in uptempo and midtempos. A little conceptual without being full throttle like Future Nostalgia was. So a more subtle concept tying everything together for a satisfying era.

They feel so threatened by her whenever she releases something

Lord help them when the DL3 lead drops :sistrens:

The certain swifties that always drag her for TTH and "pLaYlIsT aLbUmS!!1!1!!" would be FUMING :jonny5:

Please let that actually happen, it would sure show them :bibliahh:

She needs her Loose/GGGB/Blackout/Dutchess/L.A.M.B. era, the COLLAPSE that would be :jonny5:
