she truly lost her chance

I've never seen someone destroy her own career like this

and to think she had the entire music industry on her side 2 years ago :hoetenks:

THEE Rihanna; THEE Beyoncé, THEE Janet Jackson, THEE Mary J Blige were all praising her, whether publicly or behind the scenes, and look at what’s happened.

I don’t think there’s been an upcoming artist, this century, whom has had so much support from both current and non-current music legends and still hasn’t been able to succeed.

:hoetenks:

Also, the only other Black female artist, I can think of right now, that had widespread industry support prior to her official debut, and even after she debuted, from famous musicians of that time, is Whitney Houston - and that was almost 40 years ago.

Houston had support and industry back-up from Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, Jermaine Jackson, Teddy Pendergrass etc., made use of that and became her own star. Normani had it all going for her and…

Nothing.

So now that it's over we're gonna wait for her upcoming yearly single in 2023?

This is just so sad. Idk what to say. It’s such a good song :dancehall3: I hope she or the label aren’t put off from releasing an album now

I have to say I agree. She definitely had the support and hype. But she didn’t work towards utilizing that in a timely way.
But one thing, you can’t really compare Whitney to Normani tho, come on now :rip:

The "*insert female artist* is the female *insert female artist*" is an ATRL joke :gaycat6:.

OT: The title :gaycat6:.

Ah I see. But still incredibly dumb and ignorant to bring Katy ******* Perry as if she isn’t a huge global popstar and a household name in her own right, and comparing her to….Normani :rip:

SZA has a unique voice that Normani doesn’t have. I don’t see Normani’s weak/thin voice ever carrying a solo song really

true, but she could at least leverage her beauty/looks and performance skills to carve her own niche as this sexy urban/rnb girl. Especially when she had all the industry support and hype.

Oh wow, I streamed it today, hope that helps. The song is not bad.

And it's not even just that. Black twitter hyped her up to the heavens. It's even more frustrating than Rihanna not releasing music because at least she has a business venture to justify years of absence. When you abuse the anticipation hype for years, and then come out with these wack songs... :rip: She has decades of pop girl blueprints to follow like the girls you mentioned. She clearly doesn't have any musical sense of what's in and popular.

If you want to go your own way, arts not the charts... do it when you've established yourself in the industry. Beyonce stopped making music for commercial success after IASF and went in an artistic direction that elevated her career even higher. Normani has yet to even give us a Crazy in Love or Pon de Replay/Umbrella. Instead Normani is just... all over the place throwing **** at a wall imitating Beyonce and Aaliyah.

Very weird energy here bordering on racism

It´s not a trully awful song, but it´s an awful single, especially considering she drop one per year. She should just drop an entire album at this point, maybe this will generate some considerable hype for her.

Bur the funny thing to me is that i remember Normani stans dragging Camila for flopping a few months ago and now Camila latest single released nearly a month ago is slowly climbing to top 10 on spotify and serving stability

Not that i´m a Camila fan but it´s hilarious how a few months can change entire narratives

Even if people have mixed feelings about Camila and rightfully so, the time when you could compare her to Normani is long gone. That girl has proven time and time again that she has the DRIVE and the motivation to succeed and she made it happen, whereas Normani is lacking in that tbh.
