Well, this really shows just how much easier men have had it in this industry, how men benefit from a lack of misogyny which allows them to have easy, proud fans of both genders that can then contribute to their sales, drum up acclaim, create legacy through numbers.

It's also quite telling that most of the artists in the 1,000+ category are white, and that the every female artist to have over 1,000 weeks are white [blonde] women.

The industry/America/society really has issues with appreciating women/women of colour.

why you always so bitter :ahh:

I'm late but just wanna say dont mind that user u didnt sound bitter at all. You were stating FACTS!

I dont understand why its sucha controversial topic to state the fact that women are at a great disadvantage compared to men.

Boiling it down to just  "preference" is a choice...:rip:

OT: Taylor's at 1996 weeks now. She'll join the 2000+ club this week :hippo:

At this current pace, Drake will surpass the Beatles for the #1 spot in about 2 years & 7 months and it'll happen even sooner if he releases more albums between now and then.

curious hows this calculated?

if artist has 2 albums charting one week, does it count as 2 weeks? or 1 week since the artist has at least 1 album on b200?

edit: ok nvm, i just used my head and it's obvious its the later lol. otherwise artist like taylor would have way more than 2000 :rip:

If an artist charts multiple albums in a week, every album charted that week counts, so if Taylor Swift charts 7 albums this week, that counts as 7 weeks towards her tally. Here's a breakdown of her total weeks on the Billboard 200:

1989  — 401 weeks

Taylor Swift  — 275 weeks

Fearless  — 261 weeks

reputation  — 204 weeks

Red  — 185 weeks

Lover  — 156 weeks

Speak Now  — 152 weeks

Folklore  — 108 weeks

Evermore  — 88 weeks

Fearless (Taylor's Version)  — 58 weeks

The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection  — 43 weeks

Red (Taylor's Version)  — 40 weeks

Beautiful Eyes (EP)  — 21 weeks

Speak Now: World Tour Live CD + DVD  — 11 weeks

That's a total of 2,003 weeks.

I made a mistake with Taylor's numbers. She's actually at 2,003 weeks.

It's still shocking to me how few women there are on this list, and that the ones that ARE on this list are some of the most notable/iconic "big sellers" of all time in the 1000+ weeks category: Barbra, Madonna, Taylor and Adele. Looking through the men on this list, there's obviously a lot of prestige, and no one listed is really a "nobody" yet there are many men listed who seem to have reached this kind of success much, much easier than the women included.

It really all boils down to two things:

1. There are generally more male artists who are established mainstream-wise than there are female acts.

2. While there are many male acts who don't necessarily need to be mainstream staples to have their albums perform well on the Billboard 200 over time, that generally seems to be a requirement for female acts.
