Not Taylor's catalogue getting a much more massive boost despite there being many more albums available.

Did 21 make it into the Top 10 when 25 was released?

Iirc 21 got into top 10 the very week of 25’s release yeah.

i think 21 is pretty impressive this week tho, with all those sales and everything and being almost 11 years old it almost made top 30 and 19k.

so her pure sales alone would be enough for the highest week of the year right? and also the highest week under the current BB200 rules so far?

Yeah 680k is enough to be the biggest week alone. I had expected more than this though. I don't know if losing Thanksgiving Day (stores closed) cost her many albums. Lets see how Black Friday affects 30 & see how 30 does week 2.

Taylor’s still having 5 albums in the top 5 :jonny5: Truly the music industry.

Judging by this, you are the one reaching. It's nothing new that some people use Adele to attack Taylor, just look at Sazare (a Carly stan).

? I’m not using Adele for anything. Please leave me alone

https://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=329387&title=CHART-PREVIEW%3A-ADELE-STREAMS-AHEAD

Adele's 30 (Columbia) scores the year's biggest debut by at least 200k. 30 will also become the sixth- or seventh-most-streamed album by a female artist, with U.S. streams expected to finish close to 200m. The wizard known as Taylor Swift holds down three of the Top 5 on that list:

Ariana Grande, thank u, next (Republic): 360m
Taylor Swift, Red (Taylor's Version) (Republic): 281m
Olivia Rodrigo, SOUR (Geffen): 281m
Taylor Swift, folklore (Republic): 272m
Taylor Swift, evermore (Republic): 209m
Summer Walker, Still Over It (LVRN/Interscope): 191m

Will Adele surpass Walker's total? How high will 30's first-week activity go? Check out the HITS Top 50 this afternoon to find out. In the meantime, you may resume your turkey-leftovers odyssey.

So her peer in the US is Summer Walker.

TU,N 360m streams? Didn't it do 307m on Billboard? Where's that extra 60m coming from?

Youtube I guess? Wasn part of the BB200 at that time

But Billboard also had Red at 303M, folklore at 290M and evermore at 220M

People saying this is a massive decline from 25... no ****ing ****. After 2015 is when streaming really started to took over and physical sales really died. ATRL lacking context and logical thinking for the 700 millionth time :priceless:

it's been like 10 years since 21. she can't repeat the same formula forever and get the same results, so this is natural and yet she's still the biggest artist of them all, but now she's a little more like the rest of the artists in the game

Didn't Red outstream it? 30 is doing great in sales given the circumstances but it's not a bad take to call it an underperformance in comparison to 25

Red also has 30 songs and most of the songs aren't over 6 minutes long.

And this is not an underperformance. An underperformance would be if the album wouldn't debut in the top 5 + doesn't have longevity. And we don't have the stats for the latter one yet.

So 40k :psyduck:

Um yeah that would be quite the underperformance

This is absolutely on the very low end on what could have been expected. And yes obviously nobody expected anything close to 25 numbers. I thought 1.2M was realistic.

But I'm sure she doesn't care too much. Maybe it means the next album will come sooner than in 6 years.

All of this mess just from an insecurity that Taylor might not be the #1 female artist in the world? To think Taylor has released like 4 albums in the past 2 years, sold millions of albums, got multiple #1s, billions of streams, etc. and it’s still this easy to send you guys over the edge… that’s some serious insecurity :skull:

The zero self awareness after Adele fans trying to convince people how Taylor's success is fanbase/bundles driven and she can't be on Adele's level and Adele is so much bigger, she is "the real music industry" etc.

Stop projecting :rip:

Also both sides suck here. OTH's were waiting or 1m+ to immediately hold it against Taylor and Swifties were praying for low numbers to get back at OTH's hiding behind Adele PFPs. Both sides are obsessed with the numbers :priceless:

Of course not. I am talking about the ones who do that. I see that majority of Adele fans don't care but it's always few loud ones(like the person i qouted).

And i am not even blaming one side, that's the result of both sides so blaming one side with insecurity constantly is just ironic at this point, especially if you(not you) are consistently downplaying other artist's success. If you will, just don't complain about the other side.

Ohh I’m sorry! I understand now. I was confused since I love both Adele and Taylor and wish there wasn’t any arguing between the bases.

I was one of the few on here that predicted that she wouldn’t sell 1M first week, unfortunately in today’s industry you can’t take a 6 year break and expect to still be on the same level, Adele is still the biggest selling artist and her records speak for themselves but taking a 6 year break in pop music is a career killer, people have short attention spans these days and they will just move on, even if the music was better I don’t think she would have sold 1M, too much time has passed since 2015.

No that's on me. I should've phrased it better.

I hope it doesn't last long just for users like you who just mind their business and want some peace during album week. :gaycat6:

Sorry but Adele selling 837k without a dedicated fanbase while she has the #1 song in the country in downloads, streaming, and radio while her performance show/interview garnering more interest than award shows, etc.

Yall are grasping at straws. The last time Taylor had a multi week #1 was 2017.

Yes. Dedicated fanbase being people who lack lives who spend their entire day streaming their faves songs and buying multiple albums. You’d have to be completely and utterly delusional to not see the different between Adele and Taylor in terms of fanbase. Adele is just favored by the GP. That’s her “fanbase”
