I wouldn't be so sure if I was you.

HDD predicted 25 to do 1.3M and it ended up doing 3.7M.

Even the same with RED TV, it was predicted to debut with 400k and ended up with over 600k.

Difficult to predict when you're a strong pure sales artist

That’s insane. I’ll wait for the real numbers then.

1 million debuts are a thing of the past. We should all learn to move on. Adele is still an industry juggernaut and 30 is doing amazingly well. Her and Taylor are in a league of their own.

1 million debut is insanely hard to do now. But Adele still might be able to pull it off.

I also won’t rule out my fav. Last week taught me that for her, anything is possible

wild to me how 850k is considered a flop and underperformance :deadbanana:

the days of 1M+ opening weeks are over - everyone's sales are down

It's Taylor's fault her fans want to buy multiple copies but Adele fans don't even buy one?

Considering these numbers are higher than that folk album, they obviously did? That comment only made sense if your head I promise you

I'm sorry but, like, where? And certainly not after three days of sales when we had already known it did 2.3 million units. At this stage in the week - over halfway though - they're not making things up from nothing, they're analyzing actual sales data for the three tracking days already fully completed.

How f*cking stupid do you have to be to compare numbers in 2015 with sales/bundles less streaming to now in 2021.  The same idiots were laughing about Ed Sheeran.  NOBODY is putting up the same numbers they used to, its a different climate.

These are absolutely great numbers but next year those vinyls her label ordered are going to be giving "they shipped it, but it got shipped back" when they're selling for 40% off at Walmart :rip:

They shipped 1.5m and she is selling 500k of them in the first week. She will sell out the remaining 1m copies.

The album got a fair amount of 3/5 and 4/5 reviews as well so they didn’t payola it correctly clearly.  Columbia records offered thousands for a 8.2 rating on pitchfork and a 3/5 from NME!

Right. It makes no sense. But because Brando doesn't like album, it must be something shady going on.

Nobody should be really surprised by Adele underperforming

Everyone knows the reaction to Easy On Me has been lukewarm unlike the reaction to Hello and that way there’s less momentum from 25 for 30, while 25 had way more momentum from 21

folklore did 846k, well on the upper end of these predictions.

that user is just in their 'denial' stage. you don't need to take it seriously

Lol @ everyone who defended Easy On Me as a lead single.

Now what?

this logic is so tired

as if EOM did not hit #1 in 25 countries, become the longest running Adele #1 in the UK along with SLY, etc

OT: Great numbers! It’s a hard sales climate after all.

Though I do kii at all the Liddos and Katy Kats who hid behind Adele to dunk on Taylor when this isn’t the demolishing they expected :)

Certain fans are going to have a wake up call when their fave releases their next album without bundles. They be calling everyone that declined a flop, but the declines were all because of the rule changes.

I mean she’s doing these numbers without bundles, and under the new rules.

Taylor hit 846k and benefited from bundles, and without them debited with like 350k.

She’s obviously improved with Red, but it’s hard to say how much nostalgia is actually benefitting Red and whether new music would perform the same.

Not you pulling this number out of your ass :deadbanana4:

Let’s be real these numbers in 2021 are huge, but that’s way less than her label/honestly herself and her fans were expecting based on all the drags leading up the release.

This shows Adele and Taylor are truly on the same level, Adele just had a bigger pure sales peak.

Right, Adele’s prediction range has her doing 800K on the lower end, so it’s very possible that Folklore will outsell 30 :soda:

Even if 30 does 850K, Folklore still did 846K and Adele was supposed to be in a different league with her numbers, but I guess that’s no longer the case if they will end up selling in the same vicinity

This is great but everyone expected more from Adele

These are still huge numbers :clap3: The biggest debut of the year!

Why is it always the loudest and dumbest swifties speaking on another woman’s numbers like she’s inferior to Taylor? T

I'm almost convinced the positive reviews were paid for. Like how do you give an album that has dead-eyed, soulless songs like I Drink Wine, Hold On, and Love is Game each of which just drags and drags absolutely nowhere for nearly 7 minutes.... and then also has absolutely cringe uptempo attempts like Cry Your Heart Out and Can I Get It a positive review like 90 or even 100. This album is a 6/10 at the absolute max

I really disagree on I Drink Wine but absolutely agree that the positive reviews are bought. Literally no one I've encountered likes the album, the online reception I've seen outside ATRL is quite lukewarm. It's really only critics acclaiming it.

I am pretty sure it won't, especially since that's not a first day prediction and they waited 4 days to be more accurate but feel free to quote me if it does.

Then: "EOM debut proved there's immense anticipation for Adele on streaming. +100M is in the bag."

Later on: "Adele isn't a streaming artist. Her base buys in pure. +1.5M is still locked"

Now: "SWIFTIES!!!!!"
