What is going on with Taylor?

She currently has 4 albums doing +3m daily on Spotify, with Lover joining pretty soon. folklore and Red are probably about to surpass 4m daily streams tomorrow as well.

She currently has 4 different songs on Spotify Global, 3 of them from years ago:

  • Enchanted #147 - 800k
  • Wildest Dreams #170 - 760k
  • Blank Space #177 - 752k
  • exile #200 - 710k

Enchanted is also #44 on AM US and #28 on Spotify US (!!!!)

She was the most streamed ARTIST yesterday with 28.1m total streams, 2m more than Bad Bunny.

How did she become such a streaming juggernaut? Is this hype from the Red TV? Did the re-recordings project breath new life into her discography? Has the folkmore era put her in a new light for the GP? IS IT ALL THE FANS??

Discuss.

I was discussing this with a friend earlier and I really truly believe that her discography is unrivalled. The lyric writing is masterful. The melodies are timeless. The feelings she captures are both magical and heartbreaking.

I know she’s not for everyone, but I just feel like anyone who attacks her based on quality simply haven’t properly sat with the lyrics or bothered to see past how she’s been portrayed.

She’s lightning in a bottle ?

She's the most popular artist alive currently, quote me. She has the most ravenous hardcore fan support, on top of GP adoration, and an extensive catalog of smash albums, creating a supernova of success that is unmatched by anyone else this millennium.

According to ATRL, it's because she released 5 albums in 2 years :sistrens:

This is normal for Taylor :cm:

She has consistently been one of the most streamed females for the past years but this is the first time she pulls ahead in overall artists without any major release.

Makes me think that after Red TV she will dominate the #1 spot for most streamed artists daily.

She was doing on par with (or not as good as) her peers on Spotify until she put out 3 new albums within 1 year-ish (2019-20). Then proceeded to re-release each of her past albums one after the other (which nobody else is doing).

She’s probably the most productive artist of the current streaming era, and the catalog boost she gets with every new release basically never wears off considering she’s always dropping something new. She not only puts out new material but also re-issues / promotes her old albums, so there’s your answer.

That does not explain why random tracks of hers are gaining so much traction.

But why is she above Drake who released a new album 2 months ago?

She always served longevity. Fearless and her ST spend over 250 weeks on BB200 before the streaming era so her longevity in the streaming era is not surprising too:celestial5:

And actually she is doing more than she did when WD dropped.

It's definitely TikTok and not not her "spamming".

Enchanted is not viral on Tik Tok and just entered the top 30 on Spotify US.

A timeless discography :cm:

“viral on Tiktok” isn’t even an excuse because has a hit song on there every week :deadbanana2: at some point the discography just can’t be denied.

Yes she always has, but her first streaming era album (reputation) was doing meh on streaming until she began putting out albums often and re-releasing her past projects (something Drake hasn’t been doing). The “Lover” singles were struggling a bit on Spotify too iirc.

“One after the other” - more like one so far
