Sorry but if you're gonna block her, you better bring a Desperado (Wild Though) or a WBT (Pon De Replay) type of chart point monster. If Rihanna can't pull 400 chart points; then I won't feel like she's entitled to a #1. Olivia fans want her to be #1 with those weak chart points so they can make her look more successful than she is. Army did the same thing with Dynamite and it didn't keep real smash hits to get their time at #1. (ie WAP & Mood )

I’ve literally never heard Butter. Not that that means much, but also I suppose if website sales are a legitimate source for Billboard chart positions/points, then it’s not really fraudulent. I suppose they could ask them to prove it’s not being mass bought by a concentrated group of white women over 30 with too much disposable income (their primary cashed-up fanbase if we’re being honest).

Just a small group of stans from outside the country, pumping in money to trick people into thinking the GP has any idea about the song. It's pretty embarrassing.

ATRL Administrator Ryan Posted July 6, 2021 ATRL Administrator Posted July 6, 2021 The outrage over fans with money buying their faves’ music. They’re working within the existing rules of the system. No different than when fanbases would get together and buy singles on iTunes and have gifting parties in order to get their faves to debut at number 1. It’s jealousy I fear…crying in poor. I don’t like the song and I haven’t liked their last couple of songs since Boy With Luv but bitching about the fans actually spending money on their artists instead of wondering why their faves are flopping with alleged large fanbases who won’t buy their music is a choice.
Protocol Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 It being #40 on iTunes but #1 because of sales is a kii

Threads about song placements and chart positions are made almost every day and every week about different artists and groups, my faves included when they're in an era. You're upset because you don't like the data, which sounds like a personal problem. @OP It's called fraud. Is there any precedent for this happening in the past?

I heard and saw screenshots that Columbia was pumping out the same exact song (not remixes) with different ISRC codes though (just different cover art) and that kinda would be a legit actual fraud though.
Bang Up Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Doesn't matter anymore. They can waste their money buying the same song over and over again and it won't change the fact that nobody outside of ARMYs know this song or care about it. All their obsessing and hard work for nothing.

americanlife Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 It's so upsetting that these frauds are actively stealing the top spot week after week. Shame on them forever.

I wonder if you'll say the same if they blocked Britney from no.1 with Britney smashing every platforms ala Olivia

p1lotjones Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 honestly i understand billboard counting website sales during the 1st and maybe 2nd week of release bc there's genuine excitement from the fandom and a large amount of interest in hearing a new song/album, i consider it the same as organizing mass streaming parties for releases, etc but there should be some rule limiting how much these website sales count past that where the sole purpose is to manipulate charts
Da Barbie Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 at the end of the day BTS fans are buying the song enough for it to be #1, i don't see the fraud it's not any different than other stans obsessively buying their fave's music (specifically thinking of taylor fans) the chart has never meant anything beyond being a tool for labels
Cesar Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 3 hours ago, Cloudy said: This is just getting out of hand, but Billboard is allowing it so it is what it is. They are ruining themselves the credibility they once had. I mean what can billboard do really? weight pure sales less?
spree Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 it's not fraud, it's within the rules. We all know most of you here have Chromatica on muted loop on Spotify anyways, lol. The Hot 100 formula simply needs to be changed in a dramatic way. Until then, it's game on.
