305 Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Absolutely insane. Her success is so unprecedented it almost makes no sense but I'm so happy for her and I'll be rooting for her
Cruel Summer Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Olivia’s debut era already being literally historic. I did a little number crunching as today’s Spotify numbers came out to see her chances of keeping the Hot 100 #1 next week. BTS is down 19% to 1.2m US streams on Spotify; this is just the main version, as the instrumental is not on the chart today. The instrumental received less than 220k yesterday and 200k today on the US charts; we can gues that it’s getting roughly 15% as many streams as the main version based on Monday’s charts. Olivia, on the other hand, is down 11.5% today to 4.0m streams US. That’s a pretty big gap in points and an excellent hold for her - that puts her somewhere in the neighborhood of 24.6m streams on Spotify by the end of the week if she keeps declining at a steady rate in number of streams (roughly 500k/day). An optimistic model for BTS yields about 9.8m Spotify streams for them by the end of the week, including the instrumental version - I have the main version holding to about 880k on Thursday. Assuming paid and ad-supported streams are somewhere around equal, they’d need to sell 47k copies of the song just to overcome the deficit in points from Spotify alone. Factoring other streaming services, it’s probably north of 100k that they’ll need to sell - and actually have fully counted by Billboard - to beat her for the #1, and that’s a best-case scenario that assumes their streams don’t continue to collapse at a ~20% rate. If she holds steadier than I’m expecting or their streams don’t hold well, then the sales they would need are even bigger, obviously. A reminder, however, that Dynamite debuted with a healthy 265k, a figure that would more than secure the #1. All things considered, I’d take this with a grain of salt because I’m not a regular or frequent prognosticator, but with the Billboard audit last week possibly signaling intensified scrutiny of digital sales, it’s could potentially be a close week. There’s no way that I have to tell how BTS are doing in sales compared to Dynamite or whether they’ll be subjected to the same auditing as Dua was. I can’t wait to see what TOTC predicts.
UnusualBoy Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Congrats to her, the song may not be my fave from her but the accolade alone is amazing. Imagine if it blocks Butter next week

Ok...so when Olivia serves a three peat then she will break that cycle. Poor Monica. At least she held it for 20 years. Olivia is bound to get one more #1 by actually trying. Well it's over

Britney would've had like three #1s in that time if Jive had released physical singles for Crazy and Oops. Maybe even Lucky as well.

What a sad week for his collection. Mess at Levitating slipping ahead of Bruno this week

A debut is a debut. Driver's license was not her debut. She's breaking enough records they don't need to pretend it's her first 3 songs to chart. THAT"S WHO IT WAS. Tiffany the red headed girl. I thought maybe it was one of those teen girls from the 50s/60s the It's my party I can cry if I want to girl. All I Want is from her disney+ show and it wasn't her debut single though, it wasn't even a single at all, it debuted on the hot 100 after going viral on tiktok
