Album Title: Nasty

Album Cover: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EdtTAeuWoAU6SAA?format=jpg&name=900x900

Tracklist:

west side

nasty

my hair

love language

motive (with doja cat)

off the table (with the Weeknd)

pov

Explanation:

I decided to create this album through the eyes of a gay man in these modern times and tell his experience using these songs. We start off the album with the opener west side because in the lyrics you have we hear Boysiana singing “I don’t wanna think too much, I just wanna feel” this to me represents how it starts out with the gays on grindr they just want to feel something in the middle of the night whether be 8 inches digging in them or feeling a bubble butt grinding up on them beneath the sheets. Which is how romances these days seem to start for the gays.

Next up on the list is nasty. You’ve already met up with this guy from the previous hookup and bitch he checked ALL your boxes and you even sensed he’d be down for that freaky **** you don’t even tell your friends that you’re into. As Boysiana says in the song “I just wanna make time for ya (yeah)

Swear it's just right for ya

Like this ***** designed for ya (yeah)

Ten outta five on ya

Know I would sign on the line for ya (yeah)

Bet I look nice on you (yeah)

Open my mind for ya (yeah)” You think this man was handcrafted and put here for you at this point.

That brings us to “my hair” on the track list. At this point in the album things are becoming more than just about the sex. His every touch on your body is important you want to feel him run his hands through your hair, that intense love making where you don’t want to separate from him because your bond has grown to such a point. Boysiana says “Know this ain't usually me

But I might let it down for ya (mmm)

This ain't usually me (usually me)

But I might let it down for ya” That’s because for so long on these dating apps you’ve kept things strictly to a hookup but you feel it changing.

By the time we arrive at love language things have evolved. You’re texting in the daytime, when his name pops up on your phone a smile comes across your face. “You soothe me, You hold it down with every word you speak, oh babe, Babe, Been a minute since I had something so sweet.” You’ve even told that one friend that always has something bad to say that you’ve been talking to someone you met on Grindr and of course he’s hating because he got ghosted 3 times on jack’d last week.

After talking now you’re trying to figure out what exactly is going on between the two of you which brings us to motive ft doja cat. Boysiana delivers the lines “I could call bull**** all from a mile away (don't say)

You want me if you can't keep comin' back for me

Might have to curve you if you just can't talk straight (just say)

Say what you mean 'cause you might get it” You’re tired of the games being played and you need to know if there is more between the two of you because things have blossomed and you both know it.

Enter off the table from the track list. “Do I sit this one out and wait for the next life? (Next life)

Am I too cold? Am I not nice?

Might not be quite yet healed or ready

Should I be goin' too steady? (Too steady)

But I just wanna know is love complеtely off the table?” You’re questioning what is wrong with you, what’s wrong with him, why aren’t things right at this time for you guys to just be together.

Closing out the album we have pov. You finally get into that conversation that changes everything and really break down how you guys feel for one another. “It's like you got superpowers

Turn my minutes into hours

You got more than 20-20, babe

Made of glass the way you see through me” Boysiana and his lover lay it all out there that leads to what they believe to be love.

This all takes place over 2 days.

3. Tracklist

  1. Prisoner
  2. WTF Do I Know
  3. Bad Karma
  4. Gimme What I Want
  5. Midnight Sky
  6. Night Crawling

4. Explanation

After leaving her lover of many years, Miley Cyrus used music to explore her feelings about her divorce. In this EP, Miley is taking a metaphorical ride through the "Midnight Sky", and is reclaiming her independence along the way. I choose these songs because of their sound and how the lyrics contribute to the EP's theme.

  1. Prisoner - This amazing collaboration between Miley and Dua is the perfect opener as it sets the stage for Miley’s journey to independence throughout this EP. She is dealing with an unsalvageable relationship and needs to get out of it.
  2. WTF Do I Know - I chose this track to immediately follow because Miley is now unapologetic about her decision to breakup. The rock-inspired track displays how little Miley cares for the relationship she previously cared so much about.
  3. Bad Karma - In this phenomenal track, she and rock legend Joan Jett stop worrying about their public perception and now relish in being considered heartbreakers.
  4. Gimme What I Want - Miley showcases her desire for a lover for one night, but affirms that she’s fully okay on her own too. The dark and gloomy production allow her to take full control of this track.
  5. Midnight Sky - In her strongest lead single to date, Miley utilizes elements of rock, disco, and synthpop to create a phenomenal breakup song. Her superb vocals effortlessly soar at the end, leading perfectly into the closing track.
  6. Night Crawling  -  I chose this track as the closer because it is all about letting loose and giving into devilish temptations at night. After such a wild ride, it’s an electrifying ending that quenches the desire for freedom Miley has been chasing all throughout this EP.

The first word Kylie tells the listener. She is announcing to the world that no matter what happens, we're here to dance our way through it. Throughout the song kylie invites a person to dance with her. She is making the first move, inviting them into her space, her life, her dancefloor.

Kylie then tells why she invited this person. She tells us she loves their company, spending time with them and that she can't stay away from them. Kylie is stating her feelings. Her disco senerade.

As the night progresses, Kylie reveals that the person she is lusting over is the dj to her dancefloor, to her party, to her life. And she teases them. Where does the dj go? She knows exactly the answer to this question or, at least, the answer she wants to hear. She continues to tease them by never revealing where this place is but informs them she that came out tonight with a goal in her mind.

As the night coems to an end, Kylie makes her ultimatum. This is your last chance for this dance. Are you going to dance with me or not? The answer doesn't really matter because as Kylie stated in the beginning, no matter what happens, tonight we're here to dance. That's the goal of this journey.

We then get to know that Kylie successed in her disco quest. Supernova is how Kylie describes her lover. Kylie reveals how it feels to dance with the dj, just how happy she is to have this dance with them and what it means to her.

To finish Kylie reveals that her conquest wasn't simply one of lust but one of love. It wasn't just a day of fun at the disco but a search for someone to share a life with. Someone with whom to spend every day of the week, to let loose every weekend at the disco, and finally, to

Olivia Rodrigo - Brutal (EP)

DFA2649-B-9-A47-40-C7-A1-A3-9-CCA20-ECB8

1. Brutal

2. Traitor

3. Driver’s License

4. Deja Vu

5. Good 4 U

6. Jealousy, Jealousy

Brutal - While the full length album has a lot of acoustic tracks, I wanted the EP to emphasize the pop and pop-rock elements a little more. Because of this, I decided to not only keep Brutal on the track listing, but to also make it the title. Brutal has a double meaning in the context of the EP. First, not only does it refer to Rodrigo’s understanding of life as a teenager as she describes in the track itself, but I also want it to refer to the brutal nature of Rodrigo’s breakup.

Traitor - Traitor makes the cut for a few reason.  First, it is one of the most popular album tracks. Secondly, the track perfectly captures the feeling of brutal betrayal that I want the EP to hone in on. Lastly, it’s just a very strong track.

Driver’s License - I feel like this goes without saying, but you really can’t have this EP work without the song that put her on the map. DL eloquently highlights Rodrigo’s inability to move on from her past love and articulates how his actions still weigh on her mind.

Deja Vu - Another one of the poppier songs on the record. I decided that Deja Vu’s popularity makes it an easy choice, and while not being pop rock, there is still an edge to it that is missing in some of the acoustic tracks.

Good 4 U - Back to the Hot 100 #1 Pop Rock Hit, which is difficult to achieve, not everyone has that. I mean this song is an icon, it is a legend, it is the moment. Now c’mon now. Good 4 U perfectly taps into teenage melodrama and has the intense pop rock elements the EP needs.

Jealously, Jealousy - I think that the inclusion of this track is important because it establishes that half the record is clearly invested in the pop-rock landscape. Moreover, I also wanted the track to feature a second song that isn’t solely about Rodrigo’s breakup (Brutal being the first). While I did consider “hope ur ok” for this slot, I wanted something with a little more energy for the closer.

TRACKLIST:

1. Dynasty

2. Comme Des Garçons (Like the Boys)

3. XS

4. STFU!

5. Akasaka Sad

6. Bad Friend

7. Snakeskin

With this selection of songs I decided it'd be cool to portray a story about character, somebody who is very chaotic, materialistic, egocentric and feels better than everyone else. I decided to make Dynasty the title track since it gives me a lot of superiority vibes and it just fits perfect on the theme of this EP of feeling on top of the world. The next 3 tracks; Comme Des Garçons, XS and STFU! are just perfectly showcasing the materialism and egocentrism that I want to portray, nothing matters other than money, expensive things, and yourself, and I ordered them so sonically they get more chaotic and angry as they progress. Akasaka Sad I feel is the perfect turning point, the song gives me very "I have it all but at what cost" vibes, then it leads into Bad Friend, which is basically just the stage of regret after losing the ones you love and trying to get forgiveness. Snakeskin is the perfect closer because it feels like that final stage of realization and evolution for the better.

Ellie Goulding - New Heights

cpeZhk4.jpg

Tracklist

Flux

Bleach

Power

How Deep Is Too Deep

Love I’m Given

New Heights

Woman

Explanation

First let me start off by explaining why the songs that are omitted didn’t make it. Hate Me (and everything else from EG.0) isn’t included here because it doesn’t fit the album sonically at all.  So I know that many people consider it one of her best songs but I just don’t think it works here. Start has been removed because I want this EP to be a personal journey, and an overlong song with a feature doesn’t fit. Tides is terribly basic and easily the worst song on Side A for me. Brightest Blue was the closest to being included but ultimately it feels like a restatement of other songs that I prefer more. All in all, the songs I have chosen are my favorites from the album.

I’ve decided to go for a storyline-based approach for Ellie’s new EP, titled New Heights, a journey through which a woman endures the hardships of getting over a failed relationship (Flux, Bleach), and becomes disillusioned with the superficial nature of dating in the digital age (Power, How Deep Is Too Deep). Still, she recognizes that she too has made mistakes in the past (Love I’m Given), and she rectifies them to come out on the other side as a stronger woman (New Heights, Woman).

The judges will begin their reviews soon! Stay tuned for results hopefully no later than Monday!!
