Once again, tribal immunity is up for grabs... but only ONE tribe will win this time. Two tribes will be heading to tribal council. The highest scorer on each tribe will also receive immunity. Let’s get started! The theme for Round 7 is... Spring Forward! This round, we are doing something a little bit different. As you've noticed above, this season's logo features the iconic Japanese cherry blossoms. Every spring, these gorgeous pink flowers bring new life and energy to Japan (and can be found in other places too). The Northern Hemisphere is fully into the spring season now - the sunlight is gleaming, warmth has returned, and nature is alive. Another winter is in the books, and a new cycle has begun. For your submissions, you will be sending songs that you believe best represent the spring season - both lyrically and sonically. There is a bit of interpretation here, but we are going for your typical springtime vibes and themes -- concepts such as rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. We want songs that embody the feeling of this beautiful season. New life, warmth, light, optimism, and a feeling of relief that winter is over. These songs should include imagery and metaphor; they should not be like a children's song about flowers and trees (bc I know someone's gonna try it). IMPORTANT: The judges will be scoring your entry on TWO components this time - each worth up to 5 points: Five (5) points based on the lyrics - do the words capture the typical themes of spring? Five (5) points based on the sound - does the instrumentation/production capture a spring vibe/feeling? Finally, you may NOT submit a song that has already been sent for another round this season! What To Do: Once your song is selected, PM both of the hosts the artist and title of your song on Discord in our group DM. You don't have to include a link to the song unless you are sending a specific version of it. There's no explanation needed as your song should speak for itself. If your song requires an explanation to make sense, it's not a good fit. There are many of you playing this game. You guys are bound to submit the same songs at some point and because no one can occupy the same song, we encourage you to send a back-up choice along with your first pick. This applies especially to those who are not around when a round is posted and don't have the luxury of choosing an instant track. IMPORTANT NOTE: ONCE YOU SEND A SONG THAT IS AVAILABLE, YOUR CHOICE IS LOCKED AND YOU MAY NOT SWITCH. AGAIN, YOU CANNOT SWITCH SONGS. IF SOMEONE TAKES YOUR SONG FIRST, THAT IS WHEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SUBMIT A NEW ONE, SO PLEASE SUBMIT A BACK-UP. Take Into Consideration: The panel will judge the audio/lyrics of the track you submit. Music videos will not increase or decrease your score as some music video plots differ from a song's true meaning. The theme is what is important here. You will not receive a low score because you sent in a song one of the judges does not like. Taste will at the most be the difference between an 8.5 or a 9. We will never dock off multiple points based off mere preference. The song you choose should display the meaning upfront. An interview with your artist clarifying the meaning of the song will not be taken into consideration. ______________________________ We will supply an example for each round for you all to take inspiration from. Obviously no one can select this song as their entry. The example for this round is quite arguably the most beloved song ever: "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. This is truly a spring classic. Lyrically, this song is all about the beginning of new opportunities. She is gearing up to write her future destiny, similar to the start of new life in the springtime. Rebirth is in the air, as she encourages you to release your inhibitions and feel the rain wash away all of the negativity in your life. She furthermore uses imagery that makes you think of warmer days - "open up the dirty window, let the sun illuminate..." Sonically, "Unwritten" features an irresistible beat that just makes you feel warmth, light, optimism, and happiness. That introductory guitar hook in the first 40 seconds is like new buds on the trees that burst into full bloom as the rest of the production comes in. The vibe throughout is encouraging and uplifting from all sides! _______________________________________________________ The ONE tribe with the highest average score will be safe this round, meaning that the two losing tribes will attend tribal council. Remember that the highest scoring member of the losing tribes will be immune at tribal council. Your song submissions are due in 24 hours (9 PM ET) on Thursday, May 13th. Below will be the rankings for each tribe. The losing tribes will head to Tribal Council. Remember, the highest scoring member of the losing tribe will win immunity too. After I reveal the scores, I will post the final results which will include how you ranked against all castaways, and finally the overall rankings after this round. With that said, here it is… but before that... DROP. YOUR. BUFFS. We are (almost) merging! Explanation next...
