HDD: Justin #1 130-140k, Lana #2 65-75k

I think Justin's numbers are huge considering his pure sales are so lackluster. Come on now, give the guy a break.

Let's see if he'll have longevity, it seems that Anyone and Hold On are both stalling but Peaches may give him another hit. Not bad if it happens as Holy and Lonely are already hits and Anyone is a moderately-sized one.

Lana needs to do something! I don't want to see Justin win.

She might have the UK #1 in the bag (they need to do more bundles throughout the week to confirm it though).

I want Lana to pull more! Too bad she doesn't benefit from a Doin' Time sized hit this era...

She'll have a summer hit for Rock Candy Sweet (manifesting it).

Y’all need to stop with this. Folklore’s bundles were a very small portion of its first week sales. Evermore did not have physical sales first week at all and they butchered the roll out. It’s not comparable in any way, you’re just setting yourselves up to be bewildered when TS10 pulls double what Evermore did lol :rip:

OT: Justin is truly over, it’s sad. I think he’ll do 140k, but still nearly a 100k decline when he has multiple versions and massive playlisting.

Bundles includes physical variants - vinyl, CD versions, etc. Music now has to ship week of purchase to count. It was a larger % of her sales than just the merch pieces.

Lana's outselling the entire Top 10 combined in the UK. I wish her managers would push her a bit more in the US. It's obvious she has the potenital to be a power seller if they even tried to lift a finger. :lmao:

75k would be good for Lana considering she's hasn't had a hit single in ages, she's not super trend-chasing, had 0 promo and only suffered one controversy after another last year :rip:

Isn’t it a bit disingenuous to refer to physical sales as “bundles” if they’re not bundled with merchandise (the actual meaning and origin of the phrase)? They still count as valid music sales, they just count on the actual week that the music ships now. Taylor’s sales were primarily a result of direct music sales to consumers, it’s not like the majority or even plurality of her sales were merchandise-focused transactions that simply happened to have an instant download included to count for the charts.

JUSTICE COMES TO THE TOP 20

For the first time in 10 weeks, we have a new #1. Justin Bieber’s Justice (RBMG/Def Jam) unseats Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous, which falls to #3. Interscope’s Lana Del Rey will open her latest, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, at #2.

Lana would definitely have hit #1 the week prior though it would have been a close race since the racist did 69K.

Yeah these numbers are really bad. It’s less than some artists’ SEA debuts alone. He used to do like 500k :rip:

I think this album might have better longevity than Changes esp if Peaches becomes a hit but will still struggle to hit 1M this year, if ever.

It’s already at 500k with pre singles and is going to have insane longevity based on early numbers. 1m will happen easily.

For reference, on its fourth day it’s doing 10m more streams than changes, and changes at this point is at 1.1m. Also it’s not really a decline from changes because the rules changed everything. He just ain’t that much of a pure seller anymore. Purpose to changes was the huge decline.

Maybe - but for the sake of understanding the impact of the old vs. new rules people seem to be confused. The "bundles" that were discontinued were a physical product (music or merch) that wasn't produced yet + the fulfillment of an instant digital album. Lead times to produce vinyl are incredibly long + even moreso during the pandemic. Albums that came out prior to the rule change had a massive advantage and it's not fair to whittle that down to only t-shirts and hoodies.

Actually those are impressive numbers for lana slaying on pure sales... with no promo at all... amazing

Lana doing 70k+ in March, with a minimalistic/slow/soft album like Chemtrails, with zero promo and no songs on the radio is great. Idk how anyone would try to shade that. :lmao:
