FYI Despacito was huge in Latin America even before the Bieber remix. It is really a mega smash hit. Justin just made it popular in the US.

I'm not sure if it's specifically Justin. I think any remix would have boosted it a lot, even if it was Sean Paul or Enrique Iglesias or someone like that.

 

Despacito was doing incredibly well in the US before the remix for a song that wasn't in English. Likewise, I think if Justin Bieber remixed a completely unknown Spanish song it wouldn't be in the top 10 right now. I think it's the song Despacito first and foremost.

His pronunciation is indeed awful, as a Spanish speaker, I can confirm you that.

He says laberrinto instead of laberinto.  

Anyway, I am here for the song going top five and eventually hitting #1.

Hm its not hard to learn pronunciation for just one song recording. He coulda done 68 takes to get it right. But I dont expect perfect English pronunciation from foreigners so does it even matter? Accents can be cute.
