Billboard Charts: #1 Humble, #7 Stay, #9 Despacito

I think its unfair that two versions of a song should be combined to help it get to #1. Its very clear that an English audience were not really here for the original Spanish version of Despicato. But now we have an English version also with Bieber attached. They are now not really the same record. They are certainly different enough for many fans to buy or stream BOTH versions. So its potentially getting double the points for the charts.

Add to that the fact it sucks.

I don't think Bieber's lead will perform like Chained at all. Bieber has been slaying left and right since 2015 up until now. Despacito is another clear indicator people are thirsty for his music and his fanbase will come out in heaves when he releases anything.

WDYM?, Sorry, Love Yourself, WAUN, Let Me Love You, Cold Water, now Despacito... his only fail has been Company but that was probably just a case of not the right song. His other massive stuff since makes up for it.

Katy hadn't/hasn't had a huge hit since Dark Horse. She left the public on kind of a whimper with Birthday and This is How We D too. She waited way too long and I think Chained and Rise show the effects of that break. And she came back at a time that pop girls are all struggling on the Hot 100 more on top of it.

why? they're basically the same song

and the original version was already selling/streaming around the world, even in the US

Lol. Bieber definitely propelled that crap in the States. Who cares if anybody could've featured? They weren't asked so. :cm:

Everyone doubting "Despacito" doing well. I remember people not thinking it would get anywhere near the Top 10. It's coming for #1 :eddie:

You know full well that version wouldnt have done much in the US on its own. Now theres a new English version giving it a huge new lease of life. And those who buy/bought the Spanish version will also buy the Bieber version. Bieber fans will buy it also cause its Bieber. I mean, this is all kinds of extra assistance.

if ur insisting that the song wasn't selling before bieber, what difference does it make if these few people buy the bieber mix?

and no, most of the people who like the original don't like the bieber addition

either way it's not significant and it's still the same song with another feature added (daddy yankee was originally a featured added)

Fact is that the song wouldn't be anywhere close to the top 10 now without the remix

If that's his actual singing or people checking the song out because his name is on it isn't all that relevant.

It was doing well before the remix though... :cm:

You're talking about two different things:

1. Do you have a problem with different language versions counting?

2. Do you have a problem with a remix counting?

I fail to see how being able to purchase a copy twice as a fan is any different from gifting.

I LOVE Despacito, and the remix is so good. Bruno/Kendrick/Ed are all boring. They need to make way for the song of the summer!

Somebody just said "a few people" are buying the Bieber version.

Hm you need to check US itunes. The original is left in the dust. And would be even dustier without the Bieber version dragging it along.

My post is still 100% correct

I love Despacito if only for the fact that a Spanish language song going #1 will get the Trumpsters fuming :fan:

then why didn't he make deja vu a hit with his feature

i'll help you

you've insisted that that not many people have bought the original version in the US, but ur complaining that the song has an advantage because those people who bought the original version are buying the remix too giving it an unfair advantage. if not many people bought the original, how would it significant if those same people bought the remix? it wouldn't be many people...

anyway, like i mentioned before, many people who like the original, don't like the remix so ur logic doesn't work here either way

i think ur just mad that the song is doing so well and trying to find to undermine it success

bieber made it successful in the US, it was successful elsewhere before. both versions deserve to be combined for the hot 100 since they are the same song, so it doesn't matter. why is this an argument

I haven't implied anywhere that everything he touches is a hit. :soda: Fact of the matter is the song didn't just randomly go #1 / blow up. You know this so why argue it so hard?

And nobody's mad the song is a hit. It's just a matter of accepting Bieber is why. Me liking the song or not would not change that fact. :skull:

Let's face it, without Bieber the song would have peaked at top 40 at best.

no one said it was random... despacito already blew up months ago and was selling/streaming globally and then bieber pushed it into mainstream US
