perpetual novice Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 The way I just redid my entire top 20 because I changed my mind
Ewan Chaos Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 ^ REALLY trying not to do that for my albums list but I literally solidified mine today so um hopefully I can LEAVE IT ALONE. Happy to see Disclosure on your list! It gets a bad rap for some reason. Tei Shi, The Weeknd, and Tame Impala were also very good releases!
perpetual novice Posted December 4, 2020 Author Posted December 4, 2020 New update! 29. Christine and the Queens - La vita nuova 28. Soccer Mommy - color theory 27. HAIM - Women In Music Pt. III 26. Donna Missal - Lighter 25. Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher 24. Kylie Minogue - DISCO 23. Purity Ring - WOMB 22. Joji - Nectar 21. Allie X - Cape God 20. Bree Runway - 2000AND4EVA * The original version of this list had Ariana Grande's "Positions" at Rank 50, the late addition of Rico Nasty's "Nightmare Vacation" pushed it out. No shade to Ari I just forgot this album was coming out There won't be any more late additions.

mokitsu Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Phoebe, HAIM and Soccer Mommy Loved all of these albums this year

Cape God is her first since CX1 to serve properly thought out concepts and visuals, and I stan her for that 17 minutes ago, Lazuli said: HAIM deserved more tbh! WIMPIII is their best album by a mile TBH! It just got so difficult from 30-upwards in this list.
Post Malone Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Kylie in the upper half where she belongs

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 4, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 4, 2020 not rico pushing ari out i do like both tbh, but ari's release is better. i only listened to soccer mommy once, but i will admit its WAY better than her alst album which i found pretty boring/mediocre. bree, christine, kylie, are 3 of my faves here. bree is going to be HUGE in 2021 i can feel it in my bones.

She's been making moves, I found her through her song playing at the start of a Years & Years show and at that point her Be Runway EP only had like a total of 20k plays across all the tracks She's come a long way, she got playlisted by Radio 1 today
Ewan Chaos Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Christine and Kylie are my top picks for these! HAIM's album I liked too, also at Ariana serving 50 - OUT on the chart. I have Rico on my list to check out!
perpetual novice Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 New Update! We are approaching the top 10 19. Yves Tumour - Heaven to a Tortured Mind 14. Lady Gaga - Chromatica 13. Halsey - Manic 12. PVRIS - Use Me 11. Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
BlackoutZone Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Not you sneaking Chroma now like we blind I sadly did not like Manic at all, I really wanted to, I guess I'm one of these pressed f words who wanted Nightmare-ish album and ended up being disappointed when Manic turned out to be the opposite of that Of course I love multiple other choices on this list tho

I have to admit that on my first couple of listens for Chromatica I didn't really like the album, but most of my hesitance towards it was mostly confusion at why that was the direction she went in after having the monster ASIB success But I left it for a while, came back, and appreciated it for the album it is, and I think it's one of the most fun cohesive and pretence-free albums of the year. It doesn't try to be anything, it's just fun dance bops and her most honest writing yet. As for Manic I actually disliked this album for the first few months that it was out, I expected her to take the direction of Nightmare/Experiment on Me as well and I was extremely salty when she didn't, but again I came back to this album after ignoring it for a while and actually realised how good it actually is, easily her best album and showcases her as a musician way more than anything she's done before it. A problem her last albums had was that they were pretty much all imagery and music coming second, it's the other way around for Manic. I think it's one of the best written albums of the year and the mix of sounds and genres put it high up in my list too

I think it's one of the best written albums of the year and the mix of sounds and genres put it high up in my list too I actually disagree, cause the album tries to be something bigger than it is. She heavily tried to paint it as a conceptual record with all these visuals, themes and at the end of the day as you said this is just a collection of bops, not even fresh or new in her discography It's the same problem a lot of people have with Miss Anthropocene - Grimes tried to sell it as a statement, criticism on global warming etc etc and we got a record that does not touch these topics like at all But for me MA is still carried but straws of Grimes artistry, Chroma isn't for me. I think it would be possible for me to come to this point with Manic, but I just don't have the energy/will for trying For some reason Halsey became very unlikable to me and if the music isn't defending itself on first listens - I'm not going to force myself on it until it grows and clicks. Maybe one day tho!
