20. Digdat - Ei8ht Mile (UK Hip Hop, UK Drill)

b5891134ffc81ddc7659fd62e7657477.1000x1000x1.jpg

Hit me like a truck later in the year. Sinister sounding prod and the back & forth flow between Digdat & Aitch keeps me invested.

19. Rodeoglo - East Coast Swag XXX (Experimental Hip Hop)

artworks-VopM4mnIVrf4JY2Q-u30Pqg-t500x500.jpg

One of the most evil-sounding soundcloud songs of the year :razzle: The random game-related samples in his music are always fascinating to recognize too.

18. M.I.A. - M.I.A OHMNI W2020. 4 COV19 (Experimental Hip Hop, UK Hip Hop)

8065342

Now that's what I call a comeback single. I was worried for her after AIM. but she still has some creative juice left in her.  Her best since Borders.

17. Baekhyun - Candy (K-Pop, Dance-Pop)

Delight_-_cover.jpg

Friendship ended with Dean. Now Baekhyun is my new best friend. Candy is v/ catchy and close to pop perfection me thinks.

16. LazyGod x Cartier'GOD - Vapor Drugs (Hypnagogic Pop, Alternative R&B)

8167858

The high pitched vocals are a stylistic choice that works. It also sounds like their influences includes Cocteau Twins & Ariel Pink. One of the most creative songs of the year tbh.

15. Jessie Ware - Spotlight (Nu-Disco, Dance-pop)

spotlight.jpg

The single mix is the best disco song of the year. The other girls couldn't catch up.

14. Erika De Casier -  No Butterflies, No Nothing (Alternative R&B, UK Bass)

81xO8PDdhXL._SS500_.jpg

Sounds like a more futuristic approach to Christina Milian's Dip It Low. Hyped for a new project on this song alone.

13. Ppgcasper - Tonight Only (Emo Rap, Trap)

165e136f1dfea468b6a13a3932aa58cc.1000x1000x1.jpg

We're currently in an era of <2 minute songs. If this was on streaming services, it would be one of my most played songs of the year. <3 the vocals and the production always gets me in a mood.

12. Au5 - Seraphim (Melodic Dubstep)

artworks-000677875129-ztp5yv-t500x500.jpg

Quality drops in dubstep are still out there. Au5 is among one of my favorite producers of the genre when they don't include vocalists. For fans of EDM and bleep bloops.

11. Fax Gang - Itsumo (Cloud Rap, Experimental Hip Hop)

a0880679889_5.jpg

Don't try to say that

Sounds like it was recorded in a bad ass helicopter :jonny:Love how noisy it is and also glad their quality is continuing to increase beyond their debut EP. Looking out for their January 1st album.

I don’t know this set that well besides the obvious.

I just found Cartier’s song with Bladee from last year and I love that one. I can tell I’m already entering an era of overplaying DG tracks

i know 2 of these.  ok, im going to do research.

i know the m.i.a. one, which i loved but didn't catch up with becuae no spotify and i stopped caring about her.  ill probably randomly remember it in 3 and a half years and become obsessed with it.

spotlight is a great pick, top tier in the album. and i agree the single mix is better.

Sour Candy deffo not better than As If It's Your Last but if we're talking post-2018 than maybe

I think I skipped thru one of the new MIA songs but I don't remember it :toofunny3: she needs to put that album out

jsdhfkd Candy so high, kinda unexpected :fan: it's a cute enough song, not my fave on that mini tho, Ghost >>>

Spotlight easily Jessie's best song :smitten:

HMs: Sour Candy is good! I kinda love the Gaga robot voice on it though nnn. Newspaper and Juro Que are also great.

Can't believe I didn't know MIA released this year LOL well it's not on Spotify so... maybe I'll give it a YT listen.

Spotlight is ****ING TALENT BABE and it's not even my favorite from WYP, personally.

No Butterflies No Nothing getting a shoutout >>>>>> it's gorgeous and I couldn't believe she was able to release such an amazing track so quickly after such an amazing album last year. Also can't wait for her next record (and she'll get some 4AD push!).

west side is alright from what I remember, honestly I've successfully blocked a good amount of Positions out. Sour Candy :alexz3:

There's that questionable taste again..

West side being a fave is odd but to each their own, it's not bad imo

Absolute truth with Spotlight honestly, I also appreciate the single mix more than the album version, it doesn't seem so natural, more like a forced extension.

Posted

Spotlight  I also agree with the single version being superior, the album one is just a litttttle longer than necessary

#LetMeGo? That one's great. I don't consider myself to be a "drainer" but I like a lot of their material. Still a lot of loosies I haven't tapped into yet.

I thought u were a stan of her. Maybe I've mistaken for someone else. She just dropped the track and nothing else after teasing a new era.

I love candy :heart2: The ep it's from isn't that good all together unfortunately. And again MIA just dropped it and dipped. Could've capitalized off of it a bit more.

The MIA track was well received but nothing followed up with it  I'm already ready for LP2 from Erika :jonny:

The album version drags on but the single mix is just right. No streaming services = no exposure for MIA x

West Side is pretty short but it's effective. Kinda reminds of me Rih's Yeah I Said It too in a way.

Yeah the last minute of the album version doesn't translate well for me and wasn't needed.

Traditional Disco songs are meant to be long tbf but for Jessie's case, she should've stayed in the 4 minute mark.

a few more hms that I didn't include on my main list

His recent album didn't mesh with me though it seems to be his most popular one?

more of the same from them but it's pleasant I guess.

There's some things I like and don't like about this song. The vocals this time around are left to be desired for me.

There's a meme going around that one of these dudes is Tony Hawk's son.

Appreciate the message but not something I would continuously play.

Liked this more earlier in the year. Lost some momentum for me and KKB's part is not really good tbh. Rico > Charli > KKB

Nice vibe.

nice batch, kerosene and describe are my favorites here and i loved their respective albums :keir:  lockdown and ppl ive been sad were on rotation for a bit, but they're not as grabbing as their best material

just discovered Kerosene recently, it's masterpiece :jonny5:
