Brandy) Staryu Martha Wash - Carry On thecptz Shania Twain - Up! Yvess Danny Gokey - Hope in Front of Me Danny Gokey - Hope in Front of Me Astro - 10 - Yeah, this is pretty on the nose for this. Clue - 10 - “I might be down but I'm not dead” is his “at least I’m alive.” Perfect selection. Dylan - 9.5 - Justice for Allison Iraheta. But, yeah. Ya did what ya needed to do. Supaspaz - 9 - Wow, this song truly blows. Psycho - 8 - Decent… Justice for Allison Iraheta [2] Shania Twain - Up! Astro - 8 - Not the biggest fan of the song because it’s… Ugly, no offense. But it works for what you gotta do. Clue - 9.5 - The ~things couldn’t get worse~ aspect is there. This is pretty great. Dylan - 10 - Anyone who doesn’t score so well this round can ask you why. Supaspaz - 10 - Much more lighthearted than the rest of the submissions, but this is exactly what the theme is all about. Psycho - 7.5 - It’s a little too cheery for the theme in my opinion but I suppose it works... Martha Wash - Carry On Astro - 8.5 - For the most part, I think this works for the theme. I think she could’ve been a little bit more detailed, but aside from that, this is damn near perfect. Clue - 8 - Come on Morgan vs. Sahara. This is almost there for me. Dylan - 8 - In a way, this reminds me of Rain On Me so I get it. Supaspaz - 6 - In this disco-gospel jam, the struggles that she’s carrying on from are essentially all implied. Psycho - 8.5 - This definitely works for the theme August Green - Optimistic (feat. Brandy) Astro - 6.5 - I wanted to really like this because well, it’s Brandy and her voice is gorgeous, but I think it’s far too generic to make any other statement than some **** you’d find on a Get Well Soon card you find in the hospital. Clue - 5.5 - Hold awn. Why did I not know that this hymn existed? Fake fan. I don’t like how this is more of a general message, I wish she was singing about her own life. It totally takes away the effect of what we wanted. Dylan - 6 - This is so general that it doesn’t have any redeeming qualities besides that Brandy is the best vocalist of all time. So, thanks for that. Supaspaz - 6 - More generic greeting card pablum. The Vocal Bible sounds great, though! Psycho - 7 - The lyric “No matter how hard reality seems Just hold on to your dreams, yeah” hits the nail on one part of the theme but the rest of the song is a little generic like the other judges said. Mariah Carey - Through the Rain Astro - 6.5 - Points for being the type to try to make it through the mess that is your struggles in life, but I think the execution could’ve been a little bit better. Clue - 5.5 - This should’ve been in first person. Dylan - 5.5 - I mean.. It doesn’t...not… work. Supaspaz - 6.5 - Imagine how powerful the Charmbracelet era could have been if Mariah had directly addressed her recent struggles rather than serving us this music box melody? Psycho - 6.5 - Well it definitely has the part about life raining like misery, but it misses the other parts of the theme. Mary J. Blige - Beautiful Day Astro - 10 - I like this quite a lot, and I think it tackles what we need from this theme. It’s very on the nose and also pretty cute. Not bad not bad. Clue - 8 - It covers enough of what we asked for, I’ll say. Dylan - 9 - Yesss MJB did you justice this round! Really good. Supaspaz - 10 - Leave it to MJB to put it all in perspective. Psycho - 7 - It meets some parts of the theme with the lyric “Even though it's cloudy I can see the sun rays” but it’s a little too cheery. Final results up next...
