Calvin Harris - Feel So Close

I get the criticisms that it's dated or whatever, but I think it works for the round and I absolutely love this song. It brings me absolute nostalgia back to when I was a moody teen discovering EDM. 

 

Calvin Harris - Feels

This is a ~vibe~. It's like that perfect feeling of going to the beach, which I'm not even joking, is why I played this song while riding in a car to the beach last year. The song itself is fine, and I prefer Feel So Close, but I totally get why it was chosen.

 

CHVRCHES - Leave a Trace

It's a solid song...but doesn't fit the round at all. Like at all. I don't get why it was chosen . 

 

Demi Lovato - Cool for the Summer

THIS IS LEGITIMATELY A PERFECT CHOICE.

 

Dua Lipa - Hotter Than Hell

And the hits keep coming . Love the song, great entry. 

 

Inna - Fool Me

"And now summer is gone and we are drunk in love" - literally the first lyric, and you thought it made sense for the round???????????? BRUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Lyrically, it doesn't work here, and sonically, it's...not there either. It feels like it's more for fall or winter, and the song's not really great either. It's very middle of the road.  

 

Katharine McPhee - Open Toes

This song...didn't age well. Lyrically, it's fine for the round but sonically is just bizarre. 

 

Katy Perry - California Gurls

Oh?? Is this a perfect entry?? Potentially.

 

Lorde - Green Light

I can see why it could be a summer track. But maybe. The song's great though, which definitely helps.

 

Madonna - Holiday

Not a Madonna fan at all, sorry. However, the chorus is catchy, I'll give it that. I'm not truly sure if it quite hits the mark thematically either.

 

Maggie Rogers - Love You for a Long Time

This is a very great song that barely can fit. Barely.

 

ROSALÍA - Aute Cuture

She truly has awesome productions, even though I don't know what she's saying . I can see how sonically it could work for the round and slightly lyrically (at least in the English/Spanish translation). 

 

ROSALÍA - Con Altura

This works better than Aute Cuture for me for the round both sonically and lyrically. Also JAM.

 

Sofía Reyes - R.I.P.

Okay...I dig this more than I should admit. Honestly, I think that it works?????? Am I crazy?????????

So...this was my most played song of 2019. Just such a jam. I think it works quite well for the round too, so...............yeah haha.

 

Zara Larsson - All the Time

Didn't this come out last summer? Honestly, it works so well as a summer jam that you blast in your car. However, lyrically, it doesn't work as well.

5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks So Perfect

Wow...I hate this song . They're much, much better now thankfully, but this is just so generic. It works okay though, but we'll see how it stacks up. 

 

Apink - Dumhdurum

I am not a fan of KPOP at all . However, the production definitely helps. Lyrically though (at least in the English/Korean), I wouldn't say it works at all. 

 

Childish Gambino - Summertime Magic

Yeah, this is very summer for me. The only issue is that it might be too lowkey.

 

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Summertime

Lord, Will Smith...he has no spice to his rapping, it's like a dad...but he was in his 20s at this time . However, the song works for the round, so there's that! 

 

Dua Lipa - Levitating

Great song, I'm not sure if it quite works for the round.

Great song, great band...but not sure if it's the best fit for the round, given how it is lyrically. 

 

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

Again, Katy Perry just works for summer.

 

Lana Del Rey - Doin' Time

This is good! I think it works really well for the round lyrically, but sonically, I wouldn't say it's perfect.

Yeah, this is good for the round and just a good song . Definitely grew on me after hearing it in ASC.

It's a good song, but I'm not quite sure if it truly fits. Just because the song has Summer in the title doesn't mean that it works well!!!!
