There was no successful female teen pop star who was able to successfully transition into adult pop stardom and create a growing pains/crossroads :)/coming of age album. I know some would throw Control by Muva Janet out there but her first two teen pop albums flopped and are not even gold. I'm referring to successful multiplatinum teen popstar SUCCESSFULLY transitioning to adult pop stardom. It was too calculated and formulaic BUT it was the first of its kind and still a good album. Luckily slave for you the performance is iconic enough on its own Not a girl is a cult classic.

This all would have been different had they either chosen Slumber party first or selected better (it was on trend and at the end of a trend but a midtempo song like make me in the middle of the summer by Britney was NOT a good call). Better ft G eazy or Slumber party ft G eazy then another single like Just luv me would have us wanting the streams to make it platinum eligible not pushing for gold.
