Overprotected Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Oh wow let me actually listen to the entrihs this round
MusicLoverDude Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 A. Doja Cat & Tyga - Juicy This song is meh honestly. I always have an issue with songs that want to eat the ass like they are actual food. B. Katy Perry & Kanye West - E.T. I don't listen to the Kanye remix anymore, but the song itself still holds strong over others here C. The J-Pop song Honestly, the language barrier completely disconnects me from the song. So and honestly it sounds similar to other entries this round D. Tinashe - 2 On Very good choice. This song still goes off 6 years later E. Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous I always preferred Maneater but this is still good. F. Beyonce - Freedom Decent song. Should place ok in my rankings considering it holds up better compared to.... G. Mia Martina & Wala Flocka - Beast A poor man's Dark Horse with extremely shrill and awful vocals. By far the worst of the group. H. Pia Mia & the two stooges - Do It Again This song is a top that deserved better, and if her label didn't make her collab with a ****ing domestic abuser, it probably would have. I. Meghan Trainor f. Yo Gotti - Better One of her best songs and the best of that era J. Melanie Fiona & Sean Paul - 4AM This gets a pass from me. Malone's voice is more suited for RNB and this generic EDM dance pop beat does her absolutely no favors. She's lucky there are worse songs this week. K. Ciara & Missy Elliott - One, Two Step Party classic. L. The Pussycat Dolls & Timbaland - Wait a Minute Wasn't really a fan of this song back in the day and my opinion hasn't changed M. Nick Jonas & Angel Haze - Numb Angel Haze does a decent job on the song but Nick Jonas reminded me here that his nasal voice is still annoying and having it drowned out by production made it worse.

shelven Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Louisa feat. 2 Chainz - YES Yeah I definitely get what others have said about this sounding like Xtina, it's almost IDENTICAL This is catchy but a bit messy. Tinashe feat. Young Thug - Party Favors I've never been able to get into Tinashe's music and this song is no exception Kanye West feat. Nicki Minaj, and some other peepz - Monster Kanye and Jay-Z's parts are kinda boring, but whew Bon Iver and Nicki really turned this into a CLASSIC huh Estelle feat. Kanye West - American Boy This song brings back so many memories One of the defining songs of my pre-teen years. Kelly Rowland feat. Lil Wayne - Motivation Ok wait, this song is a lot better than I remember. I didn't really care about it when it was a hit, but I'm BOPPING now. Destiny's Child feat. Da Brat - Survivor I absolutely love this song, but I'm kinda screaming at the loopholing, so I'm not sure what to do with this one Mariah Carey feat. O.D.B. - Fantasy I don't want all of ATRL dragging me so let me just keep my mouth shut for this one Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne - Down Omg another defining song of my pre-teen years This is dated but I can only associate happy feelings with it. Gorillaz feat. Kilo Kish - Out Of Body The first 30 seconds were painful, but I started liking it quite a lot after that. I appreciate the risk. Rihanna feat. Drake - Work I can't believe I had the audacity to dislike this BOP the first time I heard it. Thankfully I saw the light quickly. The Pussycat Dolls ft. Snoop Dogg - Buttons F**k whoever took this before I could An iconic, catchy, sexy, flawless CLASSIC Selena Gomez feat. A$AP Rocky - Good For You Definitely one of Selena's better singles! And it's aged well too. Madonna feat. Kanye West - Beat Goes On The YouTube video being unavailable in Canada But anyways, this is v cute!

Evy Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 there are 2 songs I totally don't like, 2 songs I like and the rest is pretty same okay for me, hard to make a ranking with these middle tier songs
smholiv Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Group 2 Listening Party https://discordapp.com/assets/e820a306c732b90515989dada9995a97.svg a. Louisa feat. 2 Chainz - YES This reminded me of another music video and I can't tell which one it is? This song is pretty generic but not in a fun way, its kind of lifeless honestly. And loud. b. Tinashe feat. Young Thug - Party Favors The period between Aquarius and the album she released last year was rough to say the least. I think this scales closer to the kind of music we love Tinashe doing but its admittedly missing a certain effortless spark I like from her. c. Kanye West feat. Nicki Minaj, and some other peepz - Monster Of course its pretty fantastic - we also know that Nicki shines the brightest on this track too. Would I say I like it as much as I did before? Probably not, but I can't deny it either. d. Estelle feat. Kanye West - American Boy This is almost definitely a modern classic (I guess it's not so modern anymore! #throwbackthursday) but its admittedly not something you think of instantly. And yet when you listen to it again you realize why its a classic. e. Kelly Rowland feat. Lil Wayne - Motivation Kelly Rowland is/was(?) underrated, we knew this. I like this song because this came around a time when she was simultaneously releasing these big dance pop singles but appropriately showed her duality with this smooth bop. f. Destiny's Child feat. Da Brat - Survivor Wow we love a remiX. I was never a huge Survivor fan myself, preferring other singles. I think it just didn't age as well. g. Mariah Carey feat. O.D.B. - Fantasy Undisputed classic, there's a reason Mariah does this so well - she invented it! h. Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne - Down Little dated but its still at least fun in its genericness. Not a lot of modern pop can say the same. i. Gorillaz feat. Kilo Kish - Out Of Body I don't hate it but its definitely not my taste. I like Kilo Kish though. j. Rihanna feat. Drake - Work Modern classic! k. The Pussycat Dolls ft. Snoop Dogg - Buttons Never been a PCD fan and this song is no exception. l. Selena Gomez feat. ASAP Rocky - Good For You The solo MV version where it gets more stripped back and minimal is insanely better. That one is one of the best songs she's ever done, this one loses its uniqueness and I don't care for A$AP's verse. m. Madonna feat. Kanye West - Beat Goes On Huge fan of Pharrell as a producer, but this song feels so poorly executed. I think it's because of Madonna.
Overprotected Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 a. Louisa feat. 2 Chainz - YES NO b. Tinashe feat. Young Thug - Party Favors This is just alright, it gets a bit too repetitive c. Kanye West feat. Nicki Minaj, and some other peepz - Monster Absolutely not luv d. Estelle feat. Kanye West - American Boy Yup! the mixing is low key terrible though e. Kelly Rowland feat. Lil Wayne - Motivation Eh this is really boring f. Destiny's Child feat. Da Brat - Survivor Kii at the song ending abruptly like that nnn a classic though! g. Mariah Carey feat. O.D.B. - Fantasy Yup! the chorus from the original though >>>

Staryu Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 A. Doja Cat feat. Tyga - Juicy It's a cute bop, I love the video B. Katy Perry feat. Kanye West - E.T. One of the best singles from a (former) MPG, even my straight friends loved it. C. Namie Amuro feat. Doberman Inc. - First Timer Never heard of either artist, so it's different at least? Kinda noisy and static-y, very pretty girl though on the cover though. D. Tinashe feat. Schoolboy Q - 2 On This song puts me in a sexy mood and it's still my favorite Tinashe song. E. Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland - Promiscuous One of the best songs of the 2000s Nelly was my favorite of the mid 00s trio tbh F. Beyoncé feat. Kendrick Lamar - Freedom Beyonce and Kendrick served an anthem G. Mia Martina feat. Waka Flocka - Beast First time hearing this and it isn't bad, would be better w/o Waka H. Pia Mia feat. Chris Brown, Tyga - Do It Again An underrated bop, may not be as good as some of the classics here but it's still cute I. Meghan Trainor feat. Yo Gotti - Better This is a chill song, it's not awful, kind of a bop J. Melanie Fiona feat. Sean Paul - 4AM The version w/o Sean Paul >>>>, the echo-y autotune on the chorus was not the tea K. Ciara feat. Missy Elliott - 1, 2 Step Another classic, Cici and MissE did that L. Pussycat Dolls feat. Timbaland - Wait A Minute This is a fun song, it's not bad and Nicole is a skinny legend M. Nick Jonas feat. Angel Haze - Numb Not my favorite song from Nick, the numb chorus is kind of annoying, production is good tho

miguel Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 CRITIQUES GROUP A Spoiler Doja Cat, Tyga - Juicy this is, indeed, a bop. hadn't heard Tyga's version before, but it actually adds to the song (lowkey best part nn). Strong entry. Katy Perry, Kanye West - E.T the solo version will forever be superior tho, but it still remains one of the best pop songs of the past decade. Namie Amuro, Doberman Inc - FIRST TIMER I didn't like this at all. The production is messy, the melody isn't good, the amount of autotune on the vocals is tragic, and not only that, but it doesn't even have the decency of being a short song. It's five minutes of pure, dated torture. Next. Tinashe, Schoolboy Q - 2 On idc for this at all. boring. Nelly Furtado, Timbaland - Promiscuous i would probably enjoy this much more if it wasn't so damn dated Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar - Freedom Love the song, one of my favorites on Lemonade. Kendrick's verse is amazing and really adds to the song. Good job Mia Martina, Waka Flocka - Beast this is such an odd entry nnn. i kinda like it tho, the feature really help the song and the song itself is interesting. Pia Mia, Chris Brown, Tyga - Do It Again this is such a bop tho, wheeeew. Personal feelings for Chris aside, his verse is great and so is Tyga's. Not to mention that the song itself is pop perfection. Easily the best entry for this group. Meghan Trainor, Yo Gotti - Better This is actually one of the few Meghan Trainor songs that I really enjoy. Yo Gotti's verse is a really nice addition to the song and Meghan's voice here sounds really pretty. Good entry Melanie Fiona, Sean Paul - 4AM Why isn't this on Spotify? Is this even an official remix or is it fanmade? I- Well, if the host accepted it, then... from what i heard, the original is probably superior and transmits the intended emotions of the song much better than this cheap remix, but i lowkey dig how they made a sad/slowtempo song into a dated bop. It definetely sounds cheap but i don't completely hate it either. It's kinda mid of the road for me. Definetely made a choice to send this as your entry nnn, but you could've done worse i guess. Ciara, Missy Elliott - 1,2 Step a certified, dated bop. not much more to add tbh. i like it The Pussycat Dolls, Timbaland - Wait A Minute All these 2000s bops are so ****ing dated. Again, it's not that i hate it, it's honestly a bop, but i don't enjoy this as much as i probably would if we were still in the 2000s. Nick Jonas, Angel Haze - Numb this is also really middle of the road for me. it's a bop, but the chorus is just as dated as these 2000s pop songs, despite being released in 2014? 2015? the verses and pre-chorus is what kind save the song tbh. GROUP B Spoiler Louisa, 2 Chainz - YES I'm SO sorry that these ugly ass bitches have panned this song so far. It definetely has some Legend X influences, but it's a MAJOR BOP all around. She ****ing did THAT Tinashe, Young Thug - Party Favors This starts off as a big bop but kinda becomes monotone/repetitive/boring towards the end of the song. It goes on for too long imo. Kanye West, Jay Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj - Monster a ****ing CLASSIC. it's a ****ing bop, and Nicki's verse is ICONIC. Really good entry Estelle, Kanye West - American Boy ahhhh, another classic. It still sounds FRESH and GOOD. Kanye's verse is great as well. Y'all killing it so far. Kelly Rowland, Lil Wayne - Motivation this is sooo sexy. Lil Wayne's verse is a great addition and Kelly's voice sounds so good here too. I'm legit having a hard time ranking these songs bc all of them are so good. Destiny's Child, Da Brat - Survivor A perfect example of what NOT to send for this round nn. The feature literally dowgrades the whole song. Sounds cheap, not to mention that it's completely unnecesary. The song itself, if you ignore the awful Da Brat verse, is good. So some points for that i guess. Mariah Carey, O.B.D - Fantasy kinda middle of the road for me. the song itself is good, it just falls flat in comparison to the rest of the songs in the group. Jay Sean, Lil Wayne - Down ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, another classic. this is so ****ing good. i hadn't listened to this in so long, but as soon as it started, wheeew, such a good throwback Gorillaz, Kilo Kish - Out Of Body this issa bop. i really enjoyed it. kinda falls a bit flat in comparison to the rest of the song in the group [2] The Pussycat Dolls, Snoop Dog - Buttons the SUPERIOR Pussycat Dolls song entry issa sensual BOP, and Snoop Dog slayed his verse, as usual. Rihanna, Drake - Work this is hard, because this is such a solid choice for the theme and as entry, but there's already so many GREAT songs in the group that this kinda falls in the lower half of my ranking, or at the very least, right in the middle nn. Still a great entry tho. Selena Gomez, A$AP Rocky - Good For You Selena's best single and one of her best songs ever, PERIOD. The song itself is so sexy, and it's one of those few times that Selena's limited range/voice actually really works in her favor, not to mention that ASAP nailed his verse. Good job! Madonna, Kanye West - Beat Goes On yeah, this isn't good. literally wanted to skip the song a minute after it started. the "get down, beep beep" annoys the hell out of me. literally makes me want to rip my ears off. Kanye's verse is the only decent part of the song.
