Shallow's chart-run on the Digital Songs chart:

14-01-01-01-01-01-02-03-02-04-05-04-09-12-06-03-03-04-02-02-01-02-01-02-01-01-01-01-02-04-05-04-07-09-10

It's now the longest charting top 10 on the chart's history, a record that it'll probably keep forever now that digital sales are dwindling :cm:

Most weeks in the top 10:

32 Shallow

30 Perfect / Meant To Be
29 Body Like A Backroad
27 Uptown Funk
25 Call Me Maybe / Party Rock Anthem
24 All About That Bass / Despacito
22 Rolling In The Deep / Closer / I Gotta Feeling / Havana / Dark Horse / Royals

Or maybe it will become easier and easier to break this record, cause even just a few sales will be enough to make something go top10?

Great accomplishment tho:clap3:

If iTunes closes down then it will become really easy to break for songs trending on amazon music or so.

If it only takes a few sales, then all new releases every week will occupy the top 10, and therefore no song will be able to maintain 8 months in the top 10, because you know, like you said, it's so easy and new releases will push it down every week

Next theory

well so far there are only 3 songs from the past 4-5 years in this chart, so yeah..  Most songs are older in fact.

Interesting that this type of success didn't translate to the Hot 100 very well but an accomplishment nonetheless :clap3: Queen of iTunes in 2019.

I'm not sure but I think Lady Gaga got a #1 in 2019 thanks to the pure sales, something Taylor Swift's latest single didn't achieve

Any song with the impact and success of Shallow + its universal sound would reach 180M+ Ai on Radio.

Shallow didn't.  There's nothing interesting.  Radios refused to acknowledge Shallow until after it reached number 1 on the Hot 100 .

Are we conveniently forgetting that the song spent most of its lifespan there inside the top 10 before gracefully descending down? :doc:

11 years into her career

Collecting more hits AND acclaim along the way

But aren't we both wrong then? If everybody's sales decline exactly the same way, won't it be neither easier nor harder to break the record? Whether everybody's sales decline with 10, 20, or 30%, the top10 would stay exactly the same

Well, there you go. You debunked your own theory.

OTR, I don't care, Taylor's lead, Shawn's new single, Billie, Ariana's HUGE singles, all the smash hits from the past 7 months and yet somehow Shallow is the only song showing longevity in sales. Yet it's "easier and easier"...

Make it make sense,

That's exactly why it's impressive. Shallow is 7 months old and still survived and outlived all the hits from the past 7 months, meaning that it had actual LONGEVITY.
