Great accomplishment tho well so far there are only 3 songs from the past 4-5 years in this chart, so yeah.. Most songs are older in fact.

R.E.M.
Interesting that this type of success didn't translate to the Hot 100 very well but an accomplishment nonetheless Queen of iTunes in 2019.

I'm not sure but I think Lady Gaga got a #1 in 2019 thanks to the pure sales, something Taylor Swift's latest single didn't achieve

Any song with the impact and success of Shallow + its universal sound would reach 180M+ Ai on Radio. Shallow didn't. There's nothing interesting. Radios refused to acknowledge Shallow until after it reached number 1 on the Hot 100 .

Are we conveniently forgetting that the song spent most of its lifespan there inside the top 10 before gracefully descending down? If everybody's sales decline exactly the same way, won't it be neither easier nor harder to break the record? Whether everybody's sales decline with 10, 20, or 30%, the top10 would stay exactly the same Edited May 20, 2019 by pavi

Great accomplishment tho OTR, I don't care, Taylor's lead, Shawn's new single, Billie, Ariana's HUGE singles, all the smash hits from the past 7 months and yet somehow Shallow is the only song showing longevity in sales. Yet it's "easier and easier"... Make it make sense,

Whether everybody's sales decline with 10, 20, or 30%, the top10 would stay exactly the same That's exactly why it's impressive. Shallow is 7 months old and still survived and outlived all the hits from the past 7 months, meaning that it had actual LONGEVITY.
