In the third picutre, as soon as she sees him park in the driveway, she runs to the couch and poses in a classy but revealing dress. Britney was on top of the world and it was time to shoot for Rolling Stone. Her audience was the teenage youth at the time but that was not the audience of the magazine so Britney decided to go for something a tad more provocative and eye catching and that she did. The photoshoot is still talked about to this day as it shook new stands across America causing an uproar from her fans and parents. Britney refused to conform to the goody two-shoes image that the world wanted her to have and while she was being condemned by some for the legendary photos she was being praised by others for daring to be herself. A theme unbeknownst to her that would follow her throughout her career. BATTLE 3: Second Era/Third Era/Fourth Era Touch It - Beyonce B'Day: Country Realness Spoiler B'Day: Country Realness Not only was this a photoshoot for an iconic artwork for an iconic album, B'Day, but she is going back to her ****ry roots with this photoshoot. Everything in this photoshoot screams country realness from the beautiful cornfields to Beyonce fiercely drinking her sweet tea. She shows that she's truly a girl that can do multiple concepts, even a country girl. BATTLE 4: Third Era/Fourth Era/Fifth Era Loyalty - Christina Aguilera Fashion Spoiler Fashion BATTLE 5: Any Era of your Choice Touch It - Beyonce Goddess of Maternity Spoiler Goddess of Maternity This photoshoot was made by the photographer Awol Eriku for Beyonce's pregnancy portraits. The aesthetics of these pictures are absolutely stunning and the colors make it look even more aesthetically pleasing. This whole photoshoot screams power and beauty, but that's not all that these pictures show off. These photos symbolize a lot more than what a regular person would see by just glancing at them. Just like in many of Beyonce's performances, music videos, etc., Beyonce is symbolizing two people who have lots of spiritual meaning. These two people are the Virgin Mary and Oshun who are known to be spiritual mothers, which is perfect for Beyonce's pregnancy photos. Throughout the first two photos, Beyonce's choice of imagery is not at all accidental. She is representing the Virgin Mary and Venus at the same time, two ideas that Western culture would usually separate. This is because of the Virgin Mary symbolizes maternity and purity while Venus symbolizes erotic beauty. Beyonce symbolizes being a mother and saint while also looking like a goddess of sex and beauty at the same time. What makes this even more iconic is that she's doing this while being a woman of color when the Virgin Mary is usually viewed to be white due to the many paintings made of Mary. Whites are represented way more than any other type of person throughout Western representation which causes many people to continue their beliefs in white supremacy and power. The other spiritual figure that is being represented in this photoshoot is shown through the last two pictures that I selected. Beyonce is symbolizing Ohusin, the African Goddess of Love and Beauty. Oshun is usually seen wearing gold/yellow and seen near or in water. These photos do a great job of symbolizing Oshun due to the color that Beyonce is wearing and being seen as if she's swimming underwater. Oshun is known to be the fertility goddess who brings music and dance to everybody. With Beyonce being an African American performer and singer who is about to bring twins into the world (during this photoshoot), she serves as a great representation of this African goddess. BATTLE 6: Any Era of your Choice Speezy - Jordin Sparks Right Here, Right Now Spoiler Jordin Sparks - Right Here Right Now Era These four photos represent a Jordin Sparks that no one but her true and consistent fans know of. Jordin's career and life has been growing so well after the involuntary hiatus from RCA and the shelved third era. Sometimes we have to keep our head above water and swim against the currents to survive. Once we endure the struggles of tides and sudden changes in water movement may come out of the water alive and able to breathe freely knowing that we survived the strongest currents that pushes against us. Jordin did exactly that, she went through two toxic relationships/breakups, dealt with RCA and dealt with personal issues like health. She fought against the labels, fought against toxic love, and freed herself from a whirlpool trapping her career and life. She's now an independent artist thats married with 1 child and releasing her highest quality work. She took one stroke at a time and swam out the raging seas onto to land where there was a better lifestyle for her . The photoshoot like the title of the EP itself is a metaphor for all of it. The element of water, and Avril sinking and fighting illustrates her battle and more importantly fighting for her life. The approachability that she emits is that of a ditsy teen on the silver screen whose presence and appearance is the epitome of a woman given such a title. BATTLE 3: Second Era/Third Era/Fourth Era Not Like The Movies - Janelle Monae Tribute to a Rock Legend Spoiler Janelle Monae is paying tribute to Glam Rock legend David Bowie. BATTLE 4: Third Era/Fourth Era/Fifth Era Not Like The Movies - Janelle Monae Mystery Spoiler Janelle is playing the character of a detective in this photoshoot, it is displaying her duality and that she can portay an adrogynous imagery effortlessly. It exemplifies her TABS with modelling and that she is very versatile as an artist and not only through musical elements. This concept is original and not like the ordinary pretty type of photoshoot. Its different with significance. A lovely mystery. BATTLE 5: Any Era of your Choice Guero - Ariana Grande "HEALING" Spoiler "HEALING" Ariana Grande, fourth era (2018) These photos were taken after a really rough time for Ariana, but I also feel like they catch the vibe of what her fourth album, sweetener, was all about: the beginning of her healing. The first photo is her looking down, almost pensive, at all of she has gone through. The second photo is her looking up, beginning to let the light in. The final photo is her looking at the camera with a soft smile, looking at the future directly on. BATTLE 6: Any Era of your Choice Element - Ellie Goulding "Melancholia" Spoiler "Melancholia" ' Ellie channels the drama and mystique of a glamorous widow, mourning the loss of her love and replaying their deepest memories in her mind.
