This is a rather old thread posted back in 2010 but I thought it'd be interesting to see the list of top solo female artists of Australia from 1980-2009 in terms of singles. I think the creator of the thread was an Australian music industry insider who had access to most (estimated) sales figures for all the artists singles listed but not too sure, they were able to provide specific sales figure numbers for a lot of the artists top singles listed though (under the points column). The link above is part 4 of the thread that had the list counting down to the #1 artist (which is Madonna ) as there had been 3 other ones created before to help list the top 1000 singles artists of Australia.

If there was another update that includes the 2010's decade, then I'm sure Rihanna, Beyonce, P!nk, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift would move up a lot. Ariana Grande would probably make it into the top 20 while Jennifer Lopez would move above Janet due to On The Floor smashing.

I'm sure she did especially if S&S is counted (6x platinum).

 

On the other hand I feel like Pink and Rihanna might have surpassed Britney, not sure about the others. Still #4.

Janet has been a more strong seller than Celine and Whitney in terms of singles released in Australia. It's kinda the same for New Zealand too.

 

Number of top 10 singles in New Zealand

Janet: 13

Whitney: 10

Celine: 6

 

So it seems Janet is stronger than those two in the Oceania continent for singles, but they seem to have more success than her in Europe overall.
